Nice. So the lil kids can crawl on the beer and urine soaked floor. Hands and all.

Exactly why would the floor at Lost Abbey be soaked in urine?

Ignoring the urine point...kids crawl around on the ground all the time and are probably exposed to more germs every day at school than they would be playing with chalk at Lost Abbey. If you don't like being around kids, that's your prerogative and there's nothing wrong with that, but acting like it's a demonstrably irresponsible activity is silly.

You generally aren't going to catch anything from urine, anyway. The fecal coliform that sticks to people's shoes and ends up all over the floor - now that's probably a bigger concern.

But yeah, nothing can ever come close to a day care facility (even a relatively clean) one for disease transfer. Nothing.

Whatever doesn't kill them makes them stronger anyways.

Ha so pretty much everywhere I was planning on going! Will probably be making the trip to Alpine, do they have much that isn't an IPA?

Trust me, my kid has already been exposed to areas far more likely to pass on germs! He's going to have a great immune system like his Dad!

Sorry for the triple post, but I read somewhere that generally Lost Abbey and Green Flash tasting rooms will generally only have stuff that I can get elsewhere. Still worth the visit?

Yes, they have a handful of non-IPA beers. They're generally not at the same quality level as the IPAs, but they're not bad, just average, drinkable beers.

Alpine is known for their IPA's. The brewery is closed on Sundays and Mondays & the Brewpub is closed on Mondays. Brewery closes at 6pm. Plan accordingly.

I just went to Intergalactic, it's near Alesmith and Ballast Point. Lots of non hoppy beers. Quite a few stouts/ales. They had a coconut stout that was pretty interesting

Speaking to Lost Abbey only this is usually the case however there are always some of their special beers that just happen to be there. Spontaneous Cheer would be one that was on tap during their Veritas sale that I passed on because I was dumb and didn't know any better.

I would say it is worth the visit.

Interesting, that completely contradicts what I heard. I may stop by anyway so that I can try a few of their beers at once.

Do any of these breweries offer half pints? I really don't enjoy tasting flights in general unless it's a high ABV beer, I really don't feel like I can get much of an idea about the beer in anything less than say, 6oz.

Green Flash does half pours, as does Alesmith (in fact, Alesmith will only give you 8 oz. of anything over 10% ABV). I'm pretty sure I've seen half pours at Ballast Point, and in many of the places that don't advertise half pours they still will probably do one for you.

So the answer to your question is "most do".

I know I've read the answer to this question in another thread, but I can't find it through the search right now, so posting it here.

I'm going to be arriving in San Diego this Sunday. I have the afternoon/evening free and was thinking of driving out to Alpine to go to their pub, as it looks like that is open on Sundays. My plan is to have dinner while there and drink their wonderful beers on tap, but my main question is: Do they sell bottles from the pub too or only the brewery?

Also, any recommendations on food from the pub?

When the brewery is closed they usually will have bottles in the pub for sale.

They definitely have bottles in the pub. A little fridge with them.

    Dry rubbed wings and fries!

Wings and Fries sounds right up my alley. Thanks for confirming bottles at the pub as well, fellas!
