I hope OB is in Keno today but I have an inclination it won't be.

I think it was last week... I was in the Woodmans in Waukesha... they had towers of Dubbel cases left. Pretty sure Oak Creek still had it too.

Black Husky is available in bottles at: Ray's, Discount, Otto's (on Oakland, not sure of other locations), Theif Wine @ Milwaukee Public Market, Downer Ave Wine & Spirits, Three Cellars, and possibly a few other places around MKE proper. I could has sworn I saw a bottle at Kensington Liquor, too, but I might be mistaken. I'm hoping they carry BH @ Craft & Vessel once they get up and running.

Pick up one of each. You won't be disappointed.

New to Chicago, so I don't have that killer instinct yet.

That's ok. There are plenty of Chicago beers I would buy cases of if I had the cap room. If you ever come up to MKE proper, we should set up an IP trade.

Called Woodman's, they appear to be out. I knew it would go fast but damn that was quick. Anybody get a sense of how limited the distribution is?

Don't trust phone calls, especially to larger grocery stores. Sometimes you're talking to someone who has no idea what you're looking for, has no idea how much have (or are getting), or has no idea who to ask. It's not their fault- they get a ton of phone calls a day looking for everything from vegetables to whiskey. Sometimes you get an employee who just wants to get you off the phone.

Distribution for Oud Bruin should not be limited. Even if Woodman's runs out, there's a chance that a Pick n Save down the street will still have multiple cases. That's the challenge with Thumbprint releases- they're so wide-spread that non-beer destinations sometimes end up with more than they can sell.

I called a few other Kenosha spots and nobody else seems to have gotten it yet....now I'm just confused.

That's MKE distribution for you. Disorganized, at best. Bottom line is, the shops don't really know when they're getting it. It's not as simple as them calling the distro and saying, "I'd like ten cases of that" and the distro then saying, "Ok, it'll be on your Friday shipment". It's more like the distro saying, "You want that next Thumbprint, right?" and the shop saying, "Yeah, I think so, what is it and when does it come out?" Distro "We don't have that information. But you'll get some of it eventually."

It's stupid, but it's the way that it's gone down in MKE for decades. Most shops don't know exactly what they're getting until the truck unloads.

In my experience, it takes 2-3 weeks from first sighting of a Thumbprint in MKE to full distribution at all shops that usually carry it. Most shops will have it on the shelves by this Friday, but it will keep popping up through next week.

Don't trust anyone at Woodmans!!!! The wife was rolling thru 6 weeks back and I told her to grab a case of Berliner Weisse. She asked beer guy who went in back and sent her home with a case of Imperial Weizen!! :slight_frown:

Lol. Exactly. Again, they might have known she was from Illinois

When even Discount and Ray's don't know when a beer is coming, then Woodman's, Pick n Save, etc don't stand a chance.

Picked up a couple 4-packs at Ray's just as they were putting it out. They had a stack of cases but I didn't buy a whole one in case that was all they had. I'll probably get one at Woodman's later in the week. Discount told me they would be getting theirs this afternoon too and would have plenty of it.
