Here its like $10.99. Same as Kalamazoo stout.

So here in WI it is a staple at outdoor concerts / terrace downtown. So I'm not sure I'm all that crazy about it. But the memory of Oberon reminds me of sitting by the lake in the summers watching fireworks on the 4th. So in that regard I'm excited to here it's almost the beer / lake time of year again!

Ah, in metro Detroit many stores have it on special for $7.99 all summer long. $10.99 would be way overpriced, considering I can get Two Hearted for $8.99.

Nice balance and drinkability - even from a plastic cup. Would be a summertime staple in my fridge if it was sold in my area.

It's solid, but I much prefer Oarsman if I'm buying a Bells summer offering.

Yeah, American Wheat beers are pushing it at over $7.99. Two Hearted is $9.99-$10.99 around here. For some reason the seasonals sometimes get a premium retail which makes sense for some styles but not for Summer/session beers. Bell's is comparatively overpriced here in general. Founder's is regularly $8.49 and frequently $7.49 on special.

Oberon/Solsun was one of the first true craft beers I ever drank. It got me into Bell's and good beer in general, just like a good gateway drug should. I always look forward to having one on the release day (although not at Bell's, it's nuts). It is one of my wife's favorites, so we always have some around the house. I don't drink it as often as I used to, but it's still a nice go-to summer beer. I will say that I hate when places put an orange in it or hang it precariously on the rim of the glass. I don't want any fruit in or around my beer.

Was my gateway craft beer. It will always have a certain appeal to me because of that. Otherwise, it's decent but not great. I think it's just a great excuse for Kalamazoo to have another party and celebrate the coming of summer

Prefer Gumballhead. Wish Gumballhead was as readily available as Oberon.

It is the beer that got me back in to craft big time.

I never said they were bad brewers first of and secondly, I've been drinking Oberon since 2002. It had changed and it's not just me saying it. I have man friends who agree with me. Furthermore, they are people who don't drink much and have a steadier consumption of Oberon.

First off, this is not meant to refer to any specific previous posts that mentioned the term, but saying that Oberon is simply a "gateway" to better beers (or away from crappy beers) is a bit like saying a nice, balanced dinner is just a gateway to a big slice of bourbon chocolate cake for dessert. IMO Oberon is crafted as well, if not better, than Two Hearted or Hopslam. More of the well-known BA bias toward bigger and bolder it seems.

Good beer, prefer Gumballhead. Either way, don't drink this style often.

one of my least favorite styles, I don't see why you would pick it over a gumballhead (which is the only o the style that I like) or a real wheat beer like weihenstephaner.

not weihenstephaner? I understand if it is the only american pale wheat ale that excites you, the style is mundane.

The implication when saying the beer quality is not the same is the brewers are not good. The statement watered down is also presupposing a negative brewing practice. I couldn't help but take it literally, sorry.

I understand you've been drinking it since 2002. That just further shows that in that time you've grown as a beer taster because you've continued to drink beer over that time. Sure, it may not be what it once was, but that doesn't mean you haven't matured in tasting beer either.

Could be a combination of both batch variation/recipe change and maturation of beer tasting.
