Wow what a great assortment of beers today in NBS! I saw at least 10 new ones I never heard of that are officially on my radar after reading the posts.

Unfortunately I've never had Troeg's, but doppelbocks in general are extremely easy-drinking for the ABV. They're sweet, mild, and enriching to me. Cheers

    edit-
I've always thought it was perfectly apt that Bell's Dopplebock "Consecrator" has two (horny) goats on the label. Baby-makin' beer :stuck_out_tongue:

    New BIPA Sunday

I suppose the first thing to say here is to support Woemad and Beertunes in their well wishes for the folks in our fair state who have been so devastated by the fires recently. Especially to my friends up in the Saddle/Okanogan/Twisp who almost lost their homes in the big burn about ten years ago: I hope you have the same success this time around as you did then. And a big round of applause and respect for all the smoke jumpers, firefighters, EMTs, volunteers, and anyone else doing something to help (after hearing what Beertunes said, I'll be sure to grab some OSH next time I see it: not only is it good beer, but basic decency like being proactive in a catastrophe should be supported).
I didn't even realize the east side was burning as I've been so caught up in my own little world these past few weeks: the culmination of years of hard work (not to mention thousands and thousands of dollars....) was my sitting for the state nursing boards yesterday and... the test cut off after the minimum number of questions. This either means I absolutely aced it (I did not absolute ace it) or I failed about as hard as it is possible to fail (process of elimination leads me to the conclusion that I failed miserably). Not too pleased about that. Kind of back to square one. Because, while I can theoretically take it again in 45 days, if I did this poorly so soon after school (ok three months, but still...) plus all the studying etc... am I really going to do any better in a month and a half? UGHHHHHHHH. Failure is not something to which I am accustomed nor inclined. I just have to keep reminding myself that there's nothing I can do to change that now, and all I can do is to proceed and make the best of it going forward. I just don't know how to manifest that. Oh well. I've got six days straight of work to keep me distracted.

This is not my first Foray into Belgian IPAs, nor is it my favourite. But it's not my least favourite either. Foray is, in my limited experience, a solid if unspectacular Belgian IPA. It's got a pillowy white head like a meringue that is to die for, but the body of the beer looks awfully thin. Luckily it isn't as thin as it looks, but it's not as flushed out as it could be either. There are solid elements in there: the fruits of belgian yeast we all known and love (pear, etc) which come together nicely with the tropical and floral hops well, but... it just feels like there's something missing. A solid enjoyable experience, but at the same time fairly forgettable when all is said and done.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, and staying safe and comfortable!
