Driving the full ALCAN was a bucket list item. Recommended. Overnights in Whitehorse, Fort Nelson, Jasper and Missoula. More like 52 hours. Totally worth it.

I do a lot of trades with Tired Hands growlers. TH is 10 miles from where I live, but averages about 30 minutes each way without traffic. I generally avoid going there after work, but instead go later in the evening. Still, sometimes I can't avoid going earlier and it can take up to 45 minutes.

I, however, don't complain about the drive or the time it takes because to me that's a part of the trade equation that I don't factor into trades. I enter a trade with the full knowledge that I have to make that drive, but knowing full well that grabbing growlers is only a part of the trip, always. I go there, sit down at the bar, grab a few drinks, sometimes meeting up with another BA/friend, other times just chatting with the people right next to me while enjoying the hell out of some really awesome beers. It's an entire experience, each time is different. Don't people go the JK, HF, or other hard to get to breweries make a whole experience out of the trip each time?

Even if you go just to grab bottles for trade and pass the bottles on to get other beers that you really want, what's the big deal about the drive? I guess I'm just not getting the whole "it's more difficult to get the beers physically, therefore the beer worth more", as if someone is forcing you to make the trip begrudgingly.

HF is a 12hr day for me with lunch and stops with the dog. Id say its about a 4hr day for people in Burlington(closest 'large' city to HF). 30mins-1hr is nothing lol. I dont factor it in to the trade but that drive is a 'big deal' and Im pretty careful about what I trade it for.

Exactly, I drove 10 hours to Dark Lord Day and picked up some ZD and DL to trade, If I factor in my drive time, my gas cost, and my hotel cost then I should be pulling some serious weight with a single bottle of DL. Id do the trip again in a heartbeat and wouldnt change that experience for anything.

I wasn't saying the distance makes the beer worth more (a concept I totally disagree with) - I was using the distance as an example of why people might "value" the beer more in terms of being careful/selective about what they trade it for (since its not easy to just run out and get more, at least for me, when the brewery is an hour drive each way).

I understand what you are saying, but we are not really talking about purchasing of rare commodities, we are talking about trading limited available beers where both sides have invested time and efforts into obtaining the goods for trade. It's difficult, if not impossible, to quantify how difficult based on time spent getting to the brewery, standing in traffic, getting in line because it's all relative to where each person lives, availability, and time willing to spend...then take that and try to calculate the difference in difficulty with the trading partner's location relative to the brewery/store to get the necessary beer to trade to you. To me, it's equally difficult for your trade partner to get the beers that he wants from you as it is difficult for you to get the beers that you want from him, else you wouldn't be trading. That's the only difficulty that should matter and they are offset by default.

Regardless, my main thing is that people who usually get bottles to trade do that at the same time as they go enjoy beers at the brewery and/or getting bottles for themselves. Getting beers to trade is an extension to what they would already be doing anyway and that the difficulty of obtaining really isn't truly a factor. Even if it is, that difficulty is "paid" toward the "want" of getting the beers that they will be trading for; therefore, you can be selective, but shouldn't highlight that difficulty in trading.

Exactly this. I tend to be selective in trading beer I know would be difficult for me to get more of, but I never use that as leverage or bargaining power once I've actually decided to trade it.

Back to the topic. I've been looking to trade for atrial and was going to put up a veritas 013. Should that be able to land 3xAtrial? Thanks

Probably easier to mix and match JK. I would see AR+NC+Detitivore happening pretty quick. With the AR drought kicking in today it'll be hard to get someone to part with qty...me included

I'd do 2 Atrials plus something to even $4$... What did v13 cost? $40?
