Anytime you shop here, ask for a receipt. I have been overcharged by the man at the register twice now and I have suspected he over rings for a little while now. Don't know if he is doing it on purpose or not. But be careful.

I haven't seen overcharging at this store. Did you talk to him about a possible mistake?

I did ask him about it. He said he was just hurried. It's only an issue because this has happened twice. The first time there was no excuse. He apologized. I will still be a customer and want to believe this was not malicious. I just want to caution BA's.

The classic "Oh, you are only spending $60 today, how about you try this and spend $100 instead" move? Yeah, happens to me.

I've been going to E1G for years and I've never had this issue. You should ask for a receipt anywhere you go. I'm sure this was just a mistake. Honestly, instead of starting a which hunt on BA, your best bet would have been to talk directly to the owner (Sam). I'm sure he'd love to know if one of his employees is making mistakes when ringing up prices.

I've never had issues with Sam or others behind the counter. They were always willing to show what was new.

Everyone loves E1G... and I buy quite a bit of beer there. But I've yet to score a "hard to get" release from them even though I live only 3 blocks away. I have enough relationships with other shops that I do fine... but I'm questioning how much more I want to spend if the love is one-directional.

overcharging implys that it cost you more than advertised.

True or just you think its more than it should be?

Just a Q as i have never actually been to E1stG but always have seen his posts and tweets.

Over ringing. He charged me twice for Zoe. But again, I want to say that it's not a witch hunt, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I'm relaying an experience I have had more than once. I put this out here to caution people because this happened twice and additionally to see if anyone else had this experience. So after posting this I am reassured by reading that nobody else has had the same experience.

BrutalSusan and rest of the BA's - Thank You All for Shopping at E1G (East 1st Grocery).

Brutal Susan - After reading this BA Thread yesterday morning i asked Farid (He/evening shift guy/newbie) if something like this happened, he told me YES he BY MISTAKE forgot to cash out the previous transaction (which was also for $8.99) and charged your purchase of Zoe which is also $8.99 & that transaction together BY MISTAKE and i was also told after you asked him about it he sincerely apologized & gave you cash back ?

I want you and all BA's to know that we at E1G DO NOT over charge or mark up any LIMITED RELEASE beers because i do not believe in making money by cheating people or by marking up hard to get beers (of course i wanna make money but not that way).

I am sorry it happened to you and or if it happened to anybody else and just like BCCOCX said its always good to ask for receipts.

Next time if anybody have any complains or comments please feel free to Inbox me directly i would love you to hear from you all and correct any mistakes that is done by me or by any of E1G staff :-)

    Cheers,
    Sohail Aka Sam

Good grief. Do you ever pay attention at the grocery store when checking out or anywhere else where you are purchasing more than one item? Checkers accidentally ring items up a second time on many occasions. Sometimes they catch it and sometimes I do, usually right when it happens.

Now, if they were charging you significantly more than what it is advertised at I might think you had more of a case to be suspicious of. But, that is not the situation you described.

It's been brought to my attention that there is a yelp review stating the same exact experience. So now I'm a little worried. That is multiple occurrences.

While this might not have been your intent (and only you can know that for sure) the title of this thread certainly suggests that you are stating this as a fact of E1G's business model.

I don't get there as often as I would like (living in Round Rock) but Sam and his staff have been nothing but friendly and professional with me, and so I find it troubling that you would start a thread that has a strongly accusatory tone without having actually spoken to Sam about it.

I make a post that alerts BA's about an occurrence i had at a BUSINESS. Not Sams house. I find it troubling that you find my mention of a business troubling. Is it the fact that it's small business with a name people know behind it? There have been people talking about their experiences at various beer related businesses regularly on BA. What is the problem?

My problem is that your thread is titled "E1G - Overcharging" as if this is a universal statement of fact about how they conduct their business, rather than simply a story about your own personal experience there.

Perhaps something along the lines of "has anyone else had this experience?" would have better made your point. Contextualization is important.

Yesterday the cashier at HEB double charged me for a yogurt, I noticed and commented on it to her, and she voided the second charge. I didn't feel the need to run to groceryadvocate.com and accuse them of making this a regular practice, though.

All someone has to do is read my short post to understand my intent. Can I please haZ a link to groceryadvocate.com? I feel like this shopping experience might qualify.

First problem is that you came on here instead of handling it like an adult by talking to Sam. Seems to me that the issue was handled immediately and with courtesy. Second problem is the thread title signifies it is a regular occurrence and it's a common practice. This happened to you what, once? Third, all credibility goes out the window when Yelp is mentioned.
