Additionally, it's a beautiful thing that what you feel the need to do is argue with someone about what they chose to do while saying you would never do the thing that you're arguing about them doing.

I don't know Sam. I shop there A LOT at night. Never met him. For all I knew the guy I dealt with everytime is the owner. Also, read what I have to say before arguing a point about what you think I am saying. It happened twice. Should I mention a third time that i didn't think it was with Mal intent? Done. It's a business that needs to fix a problem. I'm not throwing my shoe at Sam. Calm down?

Whether you meant to or not the thread title does give the impression that you are accusing E1G of marking up prices, which they do not. Could have been worded a little better.

As for your bad experience, that sucks. However the mistake was fixed right away in a courteous manner, so as far as I am concerned, no harm done. People do make mistakes, I do not think it required a whole thread on BA.

Finally, I enjoy shipping at E1G. I am from SA but make sure anytime I am in ATX I stop by. Sam is great, always remembers me, maybe not my name but as that guy from SA, he is always welcoming and from my experience will always spread the wealth of limited releases, even hooked it up with some glassware a couple of times. I will continue to support his business anytime I get the chance.

First, I thought there was a real problem. Second, I read the comments and noticed I was wasting my time. Thirdly, tl;dr.

I've never even been to E1G, but this wasn't "overcharging." Overcharging would be making you pay more than what's printed on the price tag, or more than the local going rate (which, even then, a business is entitled to do), but this was just a simple clerical error that was fixed immediately, rendering the whole thing moot! The thread should properly be titled, "E1G - making mistakes" - which I'd hazard to guess you'd refrain from posting in the first place.

    But here we are.

Seriously, this thread is ridiculous. Sam (the owner) has even said something directly to the OP clarifying the situation. The post says it all. He's clearly looked into the matter and posted that he's more than willing to make things right. What else is left to do? What more does OP want?

    Business Owner
    7/22/2014 Hi Rob M,

i am Sam and i own E1G (East 1st Grocery) i am sorry you had bad shopping experience at my place.

I tried to contact you thru personal message and also left you a note but you did not response so i am just gonna go ahead and clear it here because your negative review might effect our current & potential customers decision in a negative way...

you were not over charged the item that you got (i checked our surveillance footage to see what you bought) were

    Ginger beer $8.99 + tax = $9.73
MIll King Creamery milk Gallon = $6.99 Non tax
    Kiskadee Gourmet Chocolate = $6.99 + tax = $7.57

all those add up to $24.29 and that is what you got charged :-)

Thank You for your Business and hope you continue to do so with trust at us.

    Cheers,
    Sam

I love having a bottle shop in town that everyone loves so much and sticks up for and also cares so much about his customers. So many of his neighbors (other stores) do in fact over charge for beer and not just limited stuff. I think I will go leave a 5 star review for Sam now to balance out the universe. Hopefully it doesn't get filtered (yelp sucks).

This won't be locked. Stupid threads rarely get locked. They only lock the most popular threads that contain too much useful information.

Rectified mistake warrants public announcement. Announcement triggers ridicule.

Does E1G carry any AK? I hear that's the hot new style on the streets of mid 19th century England.

I am a dude. Also, I don't know the dude who wrote the yelp review. That is not me. I buy beer; not milk,
Chocolate and ginger beer heh. As far as the thread title goes, you're all right. My bad.

Disappointed the items were not more provocative, like a frozen meal, duct tape, crisco, and a nudey mag.
