My checked bag were searched they took out some of my beer not all of it and two t-shirts!! What gives why would they do this? I guess this is common practice that they search your bags and take things out! From what the Delta people are saying i can file a claim and provide receipts and they will cut me a check, i don't care about the money!

Did they steal your Saga?

But seriously, that is not a very good show on their part.

The last time I flew back from anywhere with beer (Sun Country) I had a six of Real Ale wrapped in a wetsuit, and it all made it back safely. Maybe they just didn't care for brown ale...

Why do you suspect delta, and not the TSA? Just curious as I don't remember an airline ever searching my bags, however the TSA has many times (but they never took my beer or anything else).

I have flown with beer (or had beer flown to me) over a hundred times and never had an issue. Would like to hear if anyone else has had an issue like this. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

That really blows. I'm sorry, bud.
Where were you flying from? What beers did they snatch? And shirts?... Really? Total b.s. What were they?

Clearly they were somehow more entitled.

Hell, I even know of people checking those 12 bottle shippers without issues. Sounds like a bunch of bs on behalf of Delta, unless your bottles broke somehow.

IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A BOMB.

Seriously, though, TSA--I want my iPod back. Nobody working in your department wants to listen to all my Screeching Weasel albums. You're not going to find any Limp Bizkit or Nickelback. Quit looking.

If it was just the beer, I might suspect an official confiscation. The addition of the shirts makes it sound more like a straight up robbery to me. Like when my radio, tapes (this was 1998), windbreaker and shoes disappeared from my bag during a flight to Acapulco.

I've flown several times with beer and wine in my checked bags, its pretty typical for the TSA to go through them, but I have never had anything removed from my luggage.

I thought originally that the bottles broke but i would of noticed everything being beer soaked. All the bottles were bubble wrapped but i had a few wrapped in Russian River T-shirts and that's the ones that were taken. I shouldn't be mad at Delta i should of said TSA. Delta said I can file a claim with them though.. Safe to say I will be mailing my beer back here next trip, just can't make any sense of the situation.

Flew southwest last week and checked a 12 bottle shipper both ways. No problems at all. #TwoFreeBags

Throw us a bone and tell us what beer was missing.
I need more drama to hold my interest...

I've done it many times without incident. there's nothing illicit about putting beer in your checked luggage AFAIK (unless there's undeclared stuff coming from overseas, which frankly isn't in the TSA's purview anyway). Straight up stolen is what I'd chalk this up to.

These days, I find it a bit easier to track down a shipper and drop off at a fedex office. added bonus that you don't have to lug it through the airport.

I fly almost every week and bring beer with me or home with me pretty much every time. I always leave the TSA a note - something along the lines of 'this is beer. please wrap back up carefully'

Don't let Delta off the hook quite yet. There are plenty of thieves working as bag smashers that go through luggage and help themselves.
