Where? When? Why? We need to know! Tired of scouring the Vermont selves for random drops.

Been here a while.... I think it was a random shipment that made it's way up here. I know there is still a few bottles at Bottles in Providence. $13.99 each which I think is high for that one. It is ok but not that pricing.

I think its $12 at the brewery and often seen at $16 so $14 is actually a steal.

It's been in RI since early this year. Whatever you see on the shelves has yet to be purchased.

I got one a B&C. Not impressed. It had a weird spiciness to it. Much better saisons on the shelf.

I think they took the worse beer they make and sent it our way to get rid of it

I think you'd better stick to Gansett. You're over-taxing yourself on this one.

Well, more of it for those that appreciate it. Sorry to see it sitting on the shelves in RI- it would have flown off the shelves at Hunger Mountain. Time for JK to re-adjust their distribution plans (if it was legitimately distributed to RI). Obviously not an appreciative market.

So people who don't like what you like must have simplistic palates that aren't capable of appreciating beers more complex than American Adjunct Lagers?

And people wonder why beer-geeks get labeled as snobs.......

with all due respect I think both of you are being over harsh and wrong. JK is always a little funky just as Fantome is. The BA score of Mad Meg is absolutely a decent score.
This beer may not be your style or what you expect of a saison but it is in no way a bad beer. To say that would be in the same thought process as me saying that the dupont saison and heady topper are 'bad' beers because they do not fit my favorite flavor profile. Instead I see why other people like those beers and respect from afar.
oh and if that is your opinion please do not try the JK Funk Metal which says it is a stout and is funky in an awesome way.

I was trying to be a little funny here. Jk makes great stuff and most of their scores are above average to world class so I was just saying the one beer we get up this way is probably one if their most boring and least sought after ones they make and unlike fantome who offers multiple options in our area mad meg is the only one jk offered us. I think it didnt sell well so they spread it out to us

Cause, you know, all Rhode Islanders have shitty palates.

So because 1 single beer that JK makes isn't selling in RI that means that they should re-adjust their entire distribution plans? That makes so much sense. Glad to see that you're not in charge of distribution for anything. Maybe they should send some more sought after beers to RI so us beer drinkers that are appreciative of high quality beers can see what Jester King really has to offer.

they don't distribute their highly sought after beers, similar strategy to allagash because of #s made the sought after sours et al. barely make it out of the brewery if at all and sometimes make it to areas around Austin. Even in Philadelphia the beers distributed tend to be noble king, mad meg, boxer's revenge, black metal, petit prince and funk metal.
The brewery is so tiny its shocking to see what they do manage with its size its way smaller than you would think.

I understand that, and actually Allagash distributes some of their sours from time to time. I'm not expecting to see Atrial to make it up here, but even Black Metal, Funk Metal or Boxer's Revenge would be nice instead of a beer that rates average. As a brewery who may be toying with the idea of expanding into a completely new area, I'm not sure if sending an average beer would be the best way to gain a following in a new market.

And I'm sure Jester King is a lot smaller than I think. A lot of these small breweries work magic with what they have available and I do salute them for it.

Yeah not exactly sure how these guys are making it out this way but I found the same (Mad Meg and Le Petit Prince) on Long Island. Only thing I can think of is some how a distributor got their hands on some random cases and now they are just sitting on the shelves because they are not Boxers or RU55... Both are good beers and I really dig the Prince

1000's apologies, IMO Mad Meg is not good

I admit I am a proud Gansett fan!

And apologies for being flippant. (Yes, I like Gannett as well for the style that it represents, and appreciate the brewery for what it means to the region.)
I'd really like to know how the Mad Meg got to RI, and whether the negative comment truly reflect old or poorly stored stocks dumped in out-of-market stores or unfamiliarity of the consumers with the brew.

If I'm not mistaken it may have been from the Shelton Brothers. Don't quote me on that though.
