It is amazing the impact of a public shaming. Bad feedback helps future traders to see a person's history, but these very public bad trader threads sometimes have the miraculous impact of getting people to send the beer.

People should use the feedback system but when warranted keep posting these bad trader threads.

He shouldn't have offered up a trade for a beer he would "have trouble getting." If its not in your cellar don't offer it up.

Just to clarify off topic here. I'm in the middle of my first trade. So proper trade etiquette is to have both parties accept and have a pending trade prior to ship? I sent mine before hand with no worries. Just curious for future trades.

^^^ Yes, that's the correct way to do it to protect all parties involved in the trade.

UPDATE - I received the first of two shipments this past Saturday. It had 2 of the agreed upon beers, along with 4 extras. The extras were indeed "solid." One was FFaC. However, I still have 8 beers outstanding from the trade. When he sent the tracking info for package #1, he said the second package would go out Monday... it did not... He messaged again today saying it would be in the mail today... it still is not. He also said he couldn't get one of the beers, so it would be replaced by something else in this box.

Odd that he would send 2 of the 10 agreed upon beers, but toss in 4 extras. Save the extras for a makeup box and pack the shit out of the first box with the stuff owed/agreed upon. Good luck with this OP.

Thanks buddy! Hopefully this will all work itself out. His latest message:

"Hey Jesse, Here is the tracking number for the second box (Tracking #). I will try and get this to the post office after work today before they close. I will keep you updated. The know the temptations is still due. Bad news is Blind Pig hasn't been distro'd in a while so I am replacing that bottle with something else in this box..."

Problem is... that was last Thursday, and the tracking number is still inactive! Non-responsive to messages again...

Most recent update... He has apparently not logged into BA since 7/11/14. Four messages have gone unanswered. The tracking number shows no information. FML. This is the worst.

Depending on how you feel about what you lost, there are certain websites that will give you more information (ie home phone number if he has one) when you type in the address. Yes, it costs a few bucks but I've used it on more than one occasion to track down thieves.

Google his name, you'll be surprised what you can find out about a person. I would personally gather every piece of info I could find and go ape until I got a response. That's just me though, if it was only a small amount of locals then it may not be worth your time and effort unless, like me, you just don't like someone stealing from you.

Well, his name is XXXXXXX... soooo, I'm pretty sure he's not the only person with that name. Although, he did give me a work address to ship the beer to. I googled his name and the business... viola, LinkedIn pops up with his name, picture, and work position (sales professional). I took it a step further and found the Director of Sales for his company (likely his boss). I sent his boss an email explaining the scenario and detailing his employee's dishonesty. I doubt this will result in a package of beer on my porch, but damn, I hope he gets some justice rained down upon him.

    personal information removed.

I would too, I've talked to mommy and daddy about how their son is a thief. They want to act like a child I'll treat them like one. Personally I wouldn't stop there either. I don't give a shit about the beer it's the principle of it. Someone lied and stole from me thinking that just because it was the Internet than nothing would happen.

I could see it right now "oh it's just some beer nerd and some losers on a website that trade beer". I say think again prick. If your dumb enough to steal from me after giving me your address and other personal info and think Im just going to "let it go" or forget about it then you're going to be in for quite the surprise.

I wish there more more stories similar to the OP's and some of these scum bags might think twice before taking what's not theirs.

    Yeah, that sounds completely rational.

If you think that some dude's boss cares what some "internet beer nerds" have
to say about their employee then you probably haven't spent enough time taking your actions into consideration. Unless you're trying to get him dinged in his annual review, you've otherwise accomplished nothing.

Write a letter to your congressman while you're at it. He might be interested as well.
