It's no secret (to some, but now no one) that we've been looking for a location to host a BeerAdvocate fest outside of Boston. We have our top pics, but if it were up to you: Where do you think we should host a beer fest? And why?

(Must be outside of New England and within the continental US. The "theme" of the fest is TBD.)

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Cheers!

Chicago. Big metro area and easy to get to for most of the country. Flights and hotels are generally cheaper than other major cities. Great beer and food scene. Just an overall fun city and one of the few places I'd consider traveling to for a beer fest. Madison, WI would be my #2, but that's more of a personal thing since I love the city and want to drink New Glarus any chance I can get.

    Questions:

    1) How many people would you want/anticipate? (Is there an upper limit you want to set?)
    2) I assume you want a range of lodgings for overnighters. For your target number can you estimate the percentage who'd want lodgings?

PS--I'd not recommend Philly for a couple of few reasons, which I'll be happy to share privately with you.

Solid emerging beer scene--easy for so many just awesome local breweries to get to.
Hub airport so easy to get to.
Great uptown but also some cool quirky areas--NoDa area with a pretty good local spot there.
    Great restaurants.

    Asheville

    Incredible local beer scene.
    Awesome tourist destination
Little tougher to get to but once there-you won't want to leave.

Minneapolis! Awesome culture, oft overlooked, brimming with malty, hoppy goodness, and it's just a 3 hour drive from my house! AFTER-PARTY AT MY HOUSE! Just don't wake up my 4-month year-old.

San Diego, for totally selfish reasons. Oh, and the beer scene there ain't too shabby.

I love me those TBDs! Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, Tampa, New Orleans, Nashville, Tampa, Austin, Richmond, Charlottesville, Greeneville, S.C., and maybe Asheville. Great times to be had in all these locales.

It's no secret that Florida has been catching up to the major craft beer cities. Housing some of Craft Beers rising stars such as Cigar City Brewing, Funky Buddha, 7th Sun , Cycle, J Wakefield, JDubs and many more

Bringing the fest to Florida would help prove that we are on the map and are the future of the industry.

San Jose, California, of course! You can schedule it any time of the year, because it will probably never rain here again. Secondly, there are no other major fests within a few hours of here, despite San Jose being the tenth largest city in the US, with San Francisco and Oakland just an hour to the north. The folks here in the South Bay are right friendly and fun, and the beer scene is really taking off! Oh, one more little thing, WE LOVE BEER!!!

    Another vote for Chicago...

But I'd also be willing to travel just about anywhere in the Midwest. How about Des Moines? That'll catch some folks off-guard.

As much as I'd love to toot my city's horn and defiantly stomp my feet and demand Milwaukee... Chicago would be the city I would recommend.
