I vote for Austin Texas. Not sure Texas laws would make it easy for you though. Most folks love Austin. They seem to be good at hosting large events. Otherwise a good mid western place like Chicago.

Montgomery, Alabama...nobody ever considers this city but it has a nice downtown , the MPAC could hold any size event and Alabama has finally joined the legions with 24 different craft breweries in this state .

Chicago. Great beer town and a hub that's easy for people to get to.

I'm from a suburb so I have to vote chicago because of the aformentioned reasons.

Second suggestion would be Phoenix AZ area, tons of space, great basically guaranteed weather.

Detroit. Best bang for buck and somewhat more centrally located. Chicago might be a larger city, but will cost a hell of a lot more to organize and event at than in Detroit and while GRapids may be 'beer city usa' their small airport will make travel substantially more difficult for those flying in.

Denver (relatively cheaper to fly to) but... I hear they already have a nice beer festival.
Orlando... cheap flights, no snow year round, and large convention spaces.
Las Vegas... cheap flights, no snow, and there are a few non-beer related things to do there.
Dallas... sorta centrally located (longest non-stop flight would be 4 hours from west coast).
    St. Louis... why not?
