I have been asked to supply the beer for a dinner tomorrow night and the entree will be seafood with spice, not necessarily spicy. Any suggestions on styles? I am usually an IPA guy and most of the people there will be as well. I was thinking of picking up some Zoe and some Weekend Warrior but I am open to suggestions. I also thought of a growler (or 3) fill of Yellow Rose.

    Any suggestions?

I would suggest a light bodied, slightly yeasty, saison or farmhouse. Prairie Birra comes to mind.

Well "seafood" is a pretty broad term, but in the past I've found these pairings tend to work pretty well:
    • Fried fish with IPA/APA
    • Crab/Lobster with Hefes/wits
    • Clams/Mussels/Oysters with Saisons
    • Stews (like bouillabaisse or gumbo) with darker German styles
    • Sushi with nothing. Seriously even Japanese beer lets me down.

Just found out it is a shrimp étouffée.

That's a pretty rich food, I feel like something light with a little acididty and crispness would play nice, maybe a saison. Actually a light, crisp, IPA would would work too. Or a pilsner. Like I said, anything light with a lower final gravity could work.

I might go with Petite Prince if available, or a pilsner from Live Oak or Austin Beerworks.

Is there more than 1 course?

If it's a spicy etoufee, I would say Noble King. If not, I second Petit Prince.

Zoe sounds good with spicy ettoufee. Saisons are very food friendly though so I second those suggestions too.

Thanks guys! went with Four squared for the spicier stuff and Birra for the etoufee.

And Bourbon County Barleywine for the nightcap.
