This has been bothering me for a while, so maybe I'll see what insights the folks of BA might have.

Why does every beer event take place on Saturday? I'll just pick and choose some examples here. Dark Lord Day is always on Saturday; the last one was Saturday, April 26th. The upcoming Hill Farmstead Festival of Farmhouse Ales 2014 is on Saturday, August 16th. The upcoming sour festival at Captain Lawrence is on Saturday, September 13th. There have been many beer events around NYC that have occurred on Friday night and Saturday.

I, for one, am unable to travel anywhere or buy anything on Saturdays, and I'm sure there are many BAs like me. Is there a particular reason that all of these events take place on Saturdays? Why not Sundays? It's a bit depressing to know that even if I had the wherewithal to make travel arrangements to Munster, I'll never be able to partake in one of the great beer events in the world.

    Anybody have thoughts on this?

My initial reaction is so people can spend Sunday being hungover before going back to the grind on Monday.

all micros are closed here on Sunday, but we are in the bible belt. no insight there, other than simple logic and its called the weekend. Most folks with good to great jobs, work mon-fri with weekends off. I know crazy right? lol:grinning::grimacing:

    Just guessing here, but -

Saturday as opposed to Monday-Friday: because most people work Mon-Fri

Saturday as opposed to Sunday: because alcohol is involved, and organisers probably assume that the aforementioned majority that work Mon-Fri probably want a day off before going back to work

    Welcome to the world?

Seriously, I'm guessing you're Jewish and from NYC? If so, there's got to be a group of like minded individuals who get together on Sundays.

EDIT: though, I am curious on why you have just now realized that most of the world takes off on Saturday?

The best way to spend a Saturday is to get up early and start drinking immediately and not stopping until the wee small hours of Sunday morning. After you've killed a case of beer, switch to cocktails. Nothing chases all that beer better than half a quart of Gin.

What's up with night time? I notice as the sun starts to disappear it gets a little less bright out, and then like an hour later it is dark.

Uhhh, because the large majority of people work Monday through Friday, leaving Saturday and Sunday for time off. Sunday has the religious stigma attached to it, leaving Saturday as the only viable option. Plus, people can spend Sunday recovering.

A beer festival event that happens on Tuesday from 1pm to 6pm is going to have about 7 attendees. A festival that happens on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm will have devil worshippers and heathens as attendees

Not sure why I'm getting responses referring to weekdays. I never suggested DLD should be held on a random Wednesday in April. And thusfar it looks like the comments about Sundays amount to "just because." I would think that people would rather rest on Saturday from a long week of work than on Sunday from a long day of drinking on Saturday. Does that not make sense?

If the answer really is "just because," then I guess I'm okay with it.

Well What answer is it you want? You need to contact whoever it is you think is hosting this on a day you like and see if they will change it, good luck on that 1. geez.:grimacing::grinning:

why does anyone hold an event on a certain day, simple so the most folks can show up. it is not like a concert or anything. its beer fests. of course it could be just because, but all events I hear of are on weekends.....not all just MOST.

is on random days it seems.

I've been to plenty of Sunday beer events in the Philadelphia area... Yards Real Ale Invitational, many of the beer events at World Cafe Live, even Tired Hands has Sunday releases. Maybe they just don't happen on Sunday that frequently in your neck of the woods.

I guess that makes sense. Maybe I'm just getting unlucky and/or I should just try to find Sunday events. There are definitely random tap takeovers and such just about every night in NYC somewhere.

Furthermore, I bet that if I called up 3 Floyds, for example, and told them about my Saturday restrictions, they would accommodate me as best they could if I bought a DLD ticket. Anyone ever tried to do something like this?

Saturday is easily and by far the best day for any festival. More people will always be able to go on a Saturday than any other day.

I hate events held on Sundays. I have to be at work at 7am on Monday. I don't do a damn thing on Sundays. Friday/Saturday beer events for life.

3F accommodating you? I'll take it you've never been. Imagine walking into a death metal bar and asking them to hold you a rare beer till another day when they have 6 thousand people waiting outside to buy said rare beer.
Needless to say, i'd take you up on that bet.

When I attend beer events Sunday is not only the recovery day but also a travel day back home. I hate to say it but I would guess with near certainty that you are in the extreme minority where Saturday doesn't work for your "beer festival needs".
