Community Barrel Aged Stout

I remember the naming competition. Looks like someone said they'll announce the name on August 1st.

 

I would welcome a DFW BBA Milk Stout competition betweeen Lakewood and Community :-)

 

Community is going a Russian Imperial Stout regular version (year around) and Barrel aged version

 

Also some spice variations they claim too. Going to be really awesome.

 

Talked to the guys at the tap room last night. They are thinking 3-4 months for one batch and 6-8 for another.

Also, had their Bourbon Barrel Glenstemmons up there last night... my lord. If they ever bottle it, I may be forced to hijack a truck.

 

They should be bottling the bourbon Glenstemmons. Dont know the time frame on the releases. I was told that they have 80 wood barrels to do different barrel aged strong alcohol contain beer. And they were going to be bottling most of some of them

Glad to see Jamie getting to spread his wings a bit and do more niche type stuff. For straight brewing skill he is one of the best we got and dang if that whole team isn't filled with great people

 

As JGlitz mentioned the barrel aged time frames for Community for the RIS will most likely be 3-4 months for the first offering, with a possible secondary release 6-8 months later. Of course, these time frames are estimates and are heavily dependent on the taste profile of the beer as aging progresses. Currently there are whiskey/bourbon barrels from Breckenridge and Heaven Hill distilleries filled and aging. Barrel aged Glenstemmons will be offered again in the fall time, with a definite potential of seeing 4-pack format. Also, Inspiration (Belgian Dark Strong) and Trinity Tripel will see a 4 pack release in the late/fall early winter time frame. Keep an eye out, the end of this year is shaping up to be an exciting time!
