I'd been hearing about the prospect a craft beer tent in the days and weeks leading up to Harborfest in Oswego, NY. My understanding was that this would mark the first time that craft beer would be offered at the event. I was anxious to see what they'd come up with and optimistic since the bar that would be running it typically has a fine selection.

Yikes. A+ for the concept, D- for execution. I stuck with the Sculpin cans I brought in with me. Anyone else ever run into a "craft" beer tent similar to this?

The "Craft Beer" stand at Yankee stadium is pretty hilarious.

This is another example of one of my common gripes - FAKE CRAFT BEER EVENTS, be it a festival or table or section on a drink menu, that labels itself as "craft" but only serves crap

This looks a lot like the "craft" offerings at most of the airport bars I've been in. You'd think with only 5 taps they could at least represent 5 different breweries...

Eeeek...I've seen worse but the options here are quite limited indeed. Major bonus points for bringing your own Sculpin though!

Considering Saranac is local to you and it's not being advertised explicitly as a "craft beer tent", it gets a pass. IT'S LITE OR NOTHING FOR YOU HEATHENS. I'm not a huge Saranac fan but I'll take their Pale Ale over any of that Magic Hat and Goose Island garbage any day.

I'm pretty sure that GI doesn't label their IPA 312, so I don't know what ignoramus printed up that label.

The worst part is there are two breweries (I'll admit, one I'm not a huge fan of) within walking distance of these events and their beer can't be poured there because the sponsoring distributor has a choke hold on the events.

Also, I think Saranac (in Utica) is closer to you than me, haha.

Yep, you're right about Saranac being closer to me. Weird. A lot of the folks that I went to school with from the Troy/Albany area were really into their Saranac.

It was a pretty standard gateway brewery back in the early 2000s.

Yes, back when RPI was taking most of my money in the late 90's /early 00's, a mix case of Saranac was about the best beer I could afford.

AB/Goose Island does have a beer called 312 Urban Pale Ale - and if the "label" you're referring to is the green oval on the wall in the OP's pic, pretty sure that's what it says, as well.

that seems confusing as hell. That's got to create some mixed up orders in any bar that carries both 312 beers.

Back when RPI was taking my parents money (and some of mine) in the early 80s, Saranac didn't exist and halves of Genny Cream were nineteen bucks, but there was Holmes and Watsons.

    Now get off my lawn.

AB lists 312 as it's own separate brand. Expect more and more beers brewed under the 312 moniker.
