Drinking beers after a night shift

If I worked that shift, that's probably when I would drink. I see nothing wrong with it. Time is a human creation, and the conventions that we apply to different times (don't drink in the morning, eat dinner in the evening, etc.) are largely arbitrary based on what made the most sense back when everybody farmed and we didn't have electric lights.

 

Afterwork beers are acceptable any time you finish a shift. Some jackwad company putting you on nights should not deprive you of the sheer joy of having one or two after work!!!

 

I just landed a job where I'll be working 5pm to 5am, and you're goddamn right I'm having a beer at 5:30am!

 

You aren't the Lone Ranger with this. Lots of folks work nights and have a beer in the morning after work. Your's is a pretty common question as well with a thread on this topic popping up every month or so. If you check out the "what are you drinking" thread you'll find lots of folks with schedules similar to yours chatting, comparing notes on beers, etc. So enjoy your beer!

What else are you going to drink after work?

4pm-12am / 6pm-4am / 5am-1pm / 6am-6pm or various versions of the standard dayshift 7/8/9am to 3/4/5pm - any shift I ever worked, a beer was uncapped as soon as I walked in the door and reached the fridge...

 

You have an end of the day too, enjoy that beer!

 

My wife is an ER nurse, also on the 7p-7:30a shift, I had a hunch that was you as well.

 

After work is after work, whether it falls at 8am or 8pm. As long as you're not waking up in the middle of the night taking swigs of a bedside beer, I see no issues.

 

Some very lucid posts are made around 10:30 on many mornings.

 

Certainly doesn't sound unusual to me. I am ready to drink one at 8:30 am after the night shift.

 

I don't need to work nights as a reason to drink in the morning. Anytime is the right time for a beer.

 

OMG I am so sorry!!! I didn't realize oh geez oh my! hospitals are not the only nightshift jobs, and they are companies and some of them in regards to their employees or denial that that even have employees (upmc) are jackdaws to work for. lighten up jagoff

 

Perhaps Founders made the title "Breakfast Stout" more proper for people coming off the night shift and having a beer to wind down with than the morning drunks starting off their day buzzed?

 

Had a summer job in college working night shift @ factory & it used to knock me out to see guys getting off at 6am & heading to the bars that opened up near by at that time. That's when the phrase "it's 5pm somewhere" really hit home...being a young drinker I couldn't hit the bars that early, all I wanted was sleep.

 

I don't see anything wrong with having a beer after work.
