The thing I like the least is how mean spirited some people are on BA. It is embarrassing.

The fact some people tout IPAs above all without even giving other styles a chance.
The fact some people don't respect lagers.

Limited geographic distribution is pretty alright imo. I've got local brewpubs and that's awesome -- when you come visit, you can try out what we have in my corner of the world. The fact that some local brewers in e.g. Vermont have internet popularity doesn't change that I view them as a similar thing, and I enjoy checking out locals whether they're on the BA250 or not.

I understand that for some business models, this is their only solution. We see that playing out with many of the larger breweries right now, and while we're cheering them on, they will inevitably take the place of the beers our parents and grandparents drank for that and those reasons. Because they are everywhere and easy to get. That's great for them. But, that's not without its problems for all of the rest of the breweries who have their own business models and are NOT interested in operating at that kind of scale, nor in dealing with the kinds of headaches distributing in other markets creates for them and their (perishable) product and this goes into a kind of old minded 20th c american notion that expansion towards being nationally distributed is some kind of wonderful and being everything to everyone is where its at. Fuck that. Let's get local and stay weird.

Mine is the opposite. The guy that thinks you are a dbag because you would rather have an ipa then an english mild.

It is usually the type of guy that wants to be different and might look like a hipster. He will look down his nose at any popular style and try to tell you why a warm cask session beer is much better than what you are drinking. As soon as the warm cask session beer is popular he will find something else to move on to.

Edit: Not saying this is you but I get this attitude from some bar tenders, brewers and BA's.

I thoroughly enjoy a good IPA/DIPA but my point was to say there are some people that ignore many other styles and say IPAs are the best thing out there. It's fine to have IPAs as your favorite style, just give other styles a chance.

    Not saying this is you.

    Cheers

yea exactly hahah. I could just be minding my own business drinking a beer and then I hear ... "why are you always drinking weird shit?" from the guy with a bud light in his hand. This actually happens to me quite often now that I think about it haha

We basically dislike the same thing. BA's that think their favorite style of beer is superior and other styles aren't worth drinking. And even worse they like to tell us about it.

Weight gain and money loss are my two picks. And the whales would be close behind. But like some have said already, there are so many great beers to partake of its hard to cry over missing the really regional or limited ones. Moving from East Coast to West Coast made some whales more accessible while limiting others I took for granted and now miss. I just feel fortunate to have discovered such good beer before I died and realize that there is so much more beyond the BMC swill.

Trying to explain/justify my craft beer purchases to the lovely wife, who doesn't like beer at all, let alone "weird, expensive" beer. And similarly, trying to explain why having a fridge full of beer and a cellar closet full of beer does NOT mean that I shouldn't buy more beer.
