The money and rarely being happy with the beer selection when I eat out. Does it kill to have a decent IPA on draft?

the fact that even when you get something special you're never done. theres always something else you want.

than theres the fact that after you drink an amazing beer, chances are you won't get another for a year or more.

    plus the money and traveling.

Bucks and the bulge are the two biggest issues but I'd have to say that I'm enjoying beer a lot less after having some exceptional beers that I can't get regularly. Almost like I'm continually searching for that same deliciousness and can't enjoy the very goodness that's in front of me. I hate me sometimes. Good news is that I can drink that all away!

Beer burnout, after 3 years in the last month my care for beer has taken a massive dive, I'm having a hard time even having one beer a week or getting pumped to try a new beer. Hoping by taking a break I can rekindle my love for it this fall

Disappointment. I was at Alpine last weekend, expecting to be completely blown away. And was not. If I was not a Beer Advocate, I wouldn't have had the huge expectations I did and probably would have loved it.

I also had the same experience at Societe the day before.

And when I traded for Heady Topper.

The only downside that I experience is the occasional joke at my expense about only drinking "fancy beers". It's all in good fun, though, and most of my friends who say that about me usually end up liking what I offer them. The way I see it, all hobbies end up being expensive at some level, or experiencing an increase in popularity leading to short supply. Just gotta roll with the punches and enjoy beer!

Sometimes, when I buy too many expensive Belgian ales, I don't have enough left over for Pampers. Makes it really hard to pick up chicks.....

Being viewed as one of these new-breed lame hipster beer drinkers that have infested South Africa - it is especially bad since they have also all decided to grow beards! I was drinking craft and had a beard while they were all pretending to be gangsters and drinking malt liquor...

Realizing that the "craft" Koelsch/Alt/Helles/Dunkles/Oktoberfest/Hefeweizen/etc. I just shelled out $10+ a 6-pack on because people on BA were singing its praises is (yet again) not even remotely a Koelsch/Alt/Helles/Dunkles/Oktoberfest/Hefeweizen/etc.

This. I used to read reviews of a beer I was drinking and thought that I must be devoid of a palette, seeing as I couldn't pick out the myriad of flavours that some BA's describe. Now i've come to accept that they probably couldn't either.

Does anyone else worry that their pallete is not cleansed enough before tasting? For example, if i've eaten a lot of salty food during the day I find that I can't pick out flavours as well.

Or if I get distracted by the TV/wife while drinking a beer that you've wanted to try for a long time and not really analyzing it...

    I may be overthinking it.

Mhm, I don't know about effects lasting for a whole day but if you have a tasting session and switch from something strong to something lighter or ate something like garlic or a bunch of onions before that may change your tasting experience.

When me and my buddy had a SW TAP5 (which I think is a Weizenbock) and tried a lighter beer after that we definitely noticed that the latter seemed to lack in taste because of the contrast.
