Curious to see the reaction here. I'm listing the most readily-available examples, which I'm basing on a combination of distribution footprint, population of area in distribution footprint, number of reviews and shelf beer-ness (thus excluding beers from, say, New Glarus). I'm also including an eisbock for reasons that should be obvious (namely, its recipe is identical to the most popular weizenbock in the world). I am not including one-off releases, no matter how widely available they are/were (like Lagunitas' take on the style), nor am I including brewery-only releases.

If yours is not here, feel free to list something else. I ran out of room for an "other" option.

    Ayringer Weizenbock for traditional.
Central Waters/Local Option La Petit Mort for non-traditional (bourbon barrel aged).

Shame on me for not trying Ayinger's doppelweizen yet. I keep passing it up in favor of their dunkel.

I am a BIG fan of Ayinger Weizenbock. Since this beer is a high gravity beer it seems to hold up well with respect to transport and age.

    Cheers to Ayinger Weizenbock!

I know it's not widely distributed, but I thought it was just fantastic.

Ladenburger makes a pretty good Weizenbock, but I'm not sure if it's available in the US. Although I'm not a huge fan of Weizenbocks in general, from the above list I'd go with Aventinus.

I don't doubt it, everything else they do is amazing. Hence why I haven't tried the Weizenbock yet.....every time I see Ur Weisse or Brau Weisse I have trouble thinking about any other beer.

I went with Ayinger, myself, although there is definitely something to be said for Aventinus ans Vitus as well. It was a very tough decision between the three, to tell the truth, but the most 'classic' profile was the determining factor for me.

Vitus is an amazing beer. It's one of the few beers I would be completely happy with if it was the only one I could drink.
