So I got a little crazy today and bought some beer online. I picked up a bottle of RR consecration. I've tried rodenbach once and did t care for it. A part of me wants to drink this consecration to see if it gets me into sours yet another part of me knows it's trade gold and I can get whatever I want with it. Why do you guys think I should do?
Cellar it for a year or two. Your future self (who'll come to appreciate sours) will thank you for it.
Not sure why you'd buy a sour if you don't like one of the best respected representations of the style. Not everyone does, though. If you think you've got a chance of coming around, I agree with the cellar comment, otherwise, if you are in the mind to, I'd trade - but know that you may not get your value back. Consecration is not that hard a get for people who trade with California, and you'll have paid a premium.
-Consecration isn't really "trade gold." FYI. -Its $12 and brewed regularly. -Its not Rodenbach -drink it.
If you're really interested in getting involved in trading, I'd suggest paying a little more attention to the FT/ISO forums, or at least use the search function to get some better idea of how sought after a beer might be. Consecration is a very good beer, but it's far from a "get whatever I want with it" beer.
Consecration is the solemn dedication to a special purpose or service, usually religious. The word "consecration" literally means "association with the sacred". Persons, places, or things can be consecrated, and the term is used in various ways by different groups. A synonym for to consecrate is to sanctify; an antonym is to desecrate. Cellar it, then Drink it.
