You got me to click. You win. :slight_frown:

Although with how bitchy the Midwest forum has been lately, the thread title is sadly believable.

I won't say Ugh, and I'm totally interested in how it'll be, but in general a lot of BA beers haven't done it for me (obviously some are fantastic) so I'm slightly reserved as of now. The art work is sweet.

Now a bunch of a-holes will get Darkness, and I won't get any. This community sucks now. I used to be first in line at Darkness Day, 3 hours after it began.

Label says rye whiskey notes. Anyone know what barrels they are aging this in?

I am thinking Highwest barrels because I have only seen the post photos of Highwest barrels.

No. Saga can't be made any better. What you want is other beers aged in Saga barrels.
    Oh. Wait... shit.

I am excited for the beer. Understand some are nervous about cost but if regular has been $20 up to this point I think it will be reasonable at least there. In some of their further flung markets I think it could get prohibitively priced, or at least pretty spendy. But I also think it reinvigorates my interest in the beer. I just hope they have non barrel aged Darkness available on tap at Darkness Day because I love that it's hoppy and great fresh. I also understand the supply is actually increasing to 30K bottles, but imagine the barrel aging will cause the interest to skyrocket as well. I usually show up wee hours at the event but imagine I should probably camp out this time.

The tweet said contain... That doesn't rule out a blend, which is what my money is on. I just can't imagine a similar yield completely barrel aged, but prove me wrong, Surly.

EDIT ok after doing the math it would take somewhere around 105 barrels (assuming 53 gallon oak barrels) to fill 30K bottles. This doesn't include draft of course, but this number isn't as ridiculous as I would have imagined. Still, im skeptical.

I asked Todd this question point blank and got no reply but had similar thoughts, would love to see a blend simply so the beer retains some of what the hops impart to the beer.

Thanks for making the first non-fucking-stupid Saga joke in about one year.

My faith in humanity is duly restored...

Drinking saga right now. Tastes like the tears of joy from adopted russian orphans mixed with unicorn horn blood that was aged in Pappy van winkle 23 yr barrels splashed with the essence of Dave and Izzy's lovechild...

I don't know if this deserves it's own thread or not - but I feel we should start discussing why in the hell Indeed Barrel Ages Rum King. I mean I get that it has Rum in the name - but man - totally ruins that beer.

In fact - while I'm typing - and this may also deserve another thread, but what gives with having alcohol in Darkness? Or water for that matter? Totally ruins what would be a good thing.
