Great idea. I peruse the ISO:FT forum now and again, but likely lose the few Canadian threads in the mass of American ones.

I'm very new to the whole trading world. Not a trade specifically, but I participated in my first CANBIF this past spring and loved it. I'd love to do a "real" trade. I'm interested in anything I can't get in the GTA/Durham region where I do 95% of my beer shopping. I've been saving a couple good things for trading purposes. Otherwise, I can get a wide variety of things from the GTA/Durham region breweries as it comes available. I have a couple styro shippers burning a hole in my storage room...

 

Another vote 'for'. I've been thinking about getting into trading but an international trade is a bit intimidating for a first timer and sifting through all of the ISO:FT for Canadian content seems like too much of a chore.

This would be a great idea if we could get our own FT:ISO

 

I rarely check ISO:FT because trading international is completely not worth it. Sometimes I search for "Canada" and find a bunch of old threads, but it would be nice to just include them in this forum.

 

This is the exact same for me - I have also missed a few in person trades given they went into the main FT thread. Problem is how do we go about this?

 

I think a sticky "Canada-only trades" thread in the forum, and then when posting threads in the ISO:FT section, post a reply in that sticky thread with a link to your trade in ISO:FT, would be the only way we could get this implemented with the way the forums have been set up. Though, I'd greatly prefer to have ISO:FT threads posted directly here - I just don't see anyone changing the rules for us.

The current system just doesn't work unless you're posting trades in / to the US.

 

I would definitely take advantage of an ISO:FT Canada forum. It would lead to a lot of great trades IMO.

I've had absolutely no problem sending/trading to Canada from the states. Do you guys find that trades are tough to come by from U.S traders?

 

The root use case that I don't think prefix tagging addresses is knowing when a new Canadian trade thread is posted. Prefix tagging makes searching for them easier, but no way to be alerted when a new one gets posted (I don't believe you can get alerts when a thread with a certain prefix is posted, you have to watch the entire forum). With the volume of Canadian trade threads being comparatively a lot lower, there's little incentive to search for them often - and so, less get posted as less people see them, and people stick to previous Canadian traders or links established in the annual CANBIFs.

Some potential solutions:
- Alerts by prefix (I'm assuming this isn't possible without significant dev work)
- A dedicated ISO:FT Canadian subforum that we could "Watch" and get alerts for
- Having Canada-prefixed threads in ISO:FT show up in the regular Canada forum as links, so that watching the regular Canada forum would generate alerts for trade threads posted
- ...other ideas welcome.

If none of those are viable, I guess we could work around it by using something like https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakciniebenbfclihhmmfcd to monitor the results of a search with the Canda prefix in ISO:FT, though that's a little bit hacky.
