1809 Berliner Weisse ... Awesome.

 

Dogfish Head Burton Baton. Still don't know if this is a 50% barrel-aged blend of fresh and aged DIPA or a 100% barrel-aged blend of old ale and DIPA (make up your mind, DFH!) but I prefer this to the Piraat 3 Triple Hop I was just drinking in any event. Not to classic Piraat though.



I prefer the pure extended mix myself (more guitar, more vocals, more everything) but that video isn't as fun to look at

18th Street/Mikkeller Grapefruit Dead Double IPA. The juicy amarillo hops with the sweet malt and the grapefruit juice/zest play off of each other wonderfully. The amarillo hops bring grapefruit (as if it needed anymore of that), peach, mango, and spice, along with a candied sweetness from the malt. The grapefruit juice and zest add a ton more complexity and bitterness. 18th Street is the real deal…already brewing with Mikkeller is evidence of that. Cheers!

 

OK troops - the last post (#198) was actually from about 1000 but apparently I didn't hit "Post reply". Since then things have changed - I was punished by this nasty customer - tastes very much like a cheap rye, a drink I am only too familiar with:


But then things got much better:



And have stabilized now with this:



So now I'm going to shut down with a rye and soda and think of the good old days in the green machine (Buck dich mein Arsch!).

 

Despite having been put in the bottle nearly two months ago, the hops are still there. Quite nice. Clean. Grassy. Hoppy.

 

Still hydrating after a 20 mile bike ride on the rail trail with my oldest son. Not dead yet, I joked to my other son. Getting back in shape, 62, hoping to make 63. Gonna get back on skiis this winter if it kills me. I deserve this.
