Smithsonian on NeoMexicanus Hops

Great article, thanks for posting! I'd love to try some of these in my own homebrews some time...

I keep hearing about a wild hop from New Mexico and the rumor is that Sierra Nevada's last of those IPA bomber releases will utilize the neomexicanus hop. Pretty cool stuff to see my home state getting some national attention.

It's on shelves around town. Mixed reviews, but probably worth trying.

 

We get other Crazy Mountain beers down here, but I haven't seen this one yet.

 

Great read. Very well researched, knowledgeable, quite unlike lots of modern beer journalism. Smithsonian is a class publication. I love the idea of Native American botanicals finding their way into our brew!

I want to grow some of his weeds. The mention of an extra buzz added by the hops sounds very interesting.
