Colors of beer match the sky. Blondes, pales, pilsners, lagers during the day. Ambers and browns late afternoon early evening. Strong stouts as a nightcap.

I live in Kansas and have had 740 different beers. Virtually none of those beers have been east of Missouri with the exception of a few. The distribution here sucks ass. But we do get a lot of Colorado beers and that's good. I don't really have a pattern. I drink what I can find.

Damn, the smog must be pretty bad if the sky is yellow down there during the day...

"If you look at your recent or long-term beer drinking habits, what surprises you?"

    1) That I'm not homeless and 350 lbs.

    2) That I literally can not consume a light beer of any kind anymore. Tried to drink a free Coors Light on the beach and felt like I was going to throw up. Sounds super snobby, but I couldn't even get through half a bottle.

    3) That I would like to see a lot of the 10-12% beers I love in a 5-6% version. :slight_frown: getting old

I'm F'ing tired of surprises. I'd rather just have excellent examples of established styles.
Last few years I'm mostly just drinking what I enjoy the best of what's available at the retail store, and most of it is California, Colorado, PNW, and Michigan.

Nothing surprises me; I drink mostly local, while at home or traveling. I am boring.

I drink whatever the hobo I kill that day was having.

I drink whatever grabs my attention at a given time. I still tend to grab a new thing first, but if there's something I really like on tap (recently it was Barrel aged Skagit River Trumpeter Stout. I had 12-15 over 4-5 days) I drink a bunch of those. In a word, random.

Except for the hobo beer, that tends to run towards warm Coors Light.

I breathe, I'm awake, I think, then do, think some more, then do some more. I drink, then don't, drink some more, then don't some more. Thankfully, I breathe. Talk about patterns.

I try and keep myself into a wide variety in reviews. Of course I always buy the newest IPA releases so those tend to have a bit of a priority to drink sooner, but I have been buying a fair amount of US/German Helles/Weizen/Schwarz/Vienna styles, plus about every 3-5 beers reviewed will be some kind of Belgian saison/golden/dark. In only my last 50 reviews I have: Amber ale, Barleywine, Weizenbock, Hefeweizen, Gose, Rye beer, ESB, Saison, IPL, Blonde ale, Imperial Black IPA, Belgian Pale, BSPA, English Bitter, American Pale ale, Imperial Porter, Vienna Lager, Witbier, Flanders red/brown, Gueuze, IPA/DIPA, RIS, Maibock, Tripel, Dubbel, Irish Red, Herb/Spiced, Schwarzbier, and Czech Pilsner. I will review anything that sounds interesting or is a rarely brewed style. I love variety.

    ^^These.

My pattern is to try at least 2-3 new beers for every repeat favorite I have, but most times, it's closer to 9 new beers for every 1 repeat. And I too enjoy every one of them, even the ones I don't like (it's all about the experience!)

Lately it has been Australian East Coast, the rare Australian West Coast (which is pretty much just Perth & Fremantle), a mix of European (trying to get more interesting German brews after getting right into Aecht Schlenkerla's Urbock - damn that was tasty!) and any American craft beer I can get my hands on (for over the top flavours you can't beat US craft beer).

Quite tempted to go on a holiday to the US just to try as many craft beers as I can, is that a crazy idea? To travel 12,500km for craft beer?
