Wicked Weed announced another major expansion

I just ran across this and haven't seen it anywhere else, so here goes.
Wicked Weed in Asheville is building a new $5 million production facility in nearby Candler. Only 18 months into its brewpub venture, this meteoric brewery will be going from an expected 5000 barrel production in 2014 to 50,000 when up and running at the new facility. Initially concentrating on North Carolina distribution, plans seem to be for further regional penetration.
Interesting developments continue across North Carolina's brewing explosion.

That is great news, Wicked Weed makes worldclass beers that need a wider distribution. I'm lucky to have limited access as an NC native.

 

Freak of Nature in cans eventually is what I heard.

 

Hopefully you'll be able to to and have a beer there, Candler is a closer drive for me than the part of Asheville it's in.

I hope they know they have a huge, huge following in Atlanta, and it's a sour starved market for sure.

Regardless, we've got a place up there anyways, so I don't go without!

i love their stuff and trade for it as much as i can..i just hope they dont hook up with someone like the sheltons brothers, etc like prairie and against the grain and end up 30-50% higher priced...

Knowing these guys, I think they'll make excellent choices concerning distribution partners. They'll know to avoid Sheltonish choices. Either way, the beer will never get any cheaper.

 

What is the current availability of WW beers in NC? Ill be visiting in a few weeks and wondering if I can find it on store shelves or if they sell bottles at the brewery

 

Their facility in Asheville is awesome. I encourage anyone who leave nearby or is able to take a day trip to totally check it out ASAP. They're doing great things. Canned Freak would be sweet!!

Awesome! Can't wait for their Funkatorium to open up later this year! Wicked Weed has been making kickass beer since the second they opened.

 

Depends on where you're going. Are you going to span the state or visit on locale? I can tell you where you can find it.

 

We will be staying in the Charlotte / Concord area for a few days, driving in from up north, and prolly going to do some driving around close to that area. Maybe hit the brewery if needed.

 

Growing like a Weed. Hopefully make it to the Northeast soon?
