I'm having a new (to me) dunkelweizen-

    (cross-posted at New Beer Sunday)

I'm spending a lovely afternoon getting caught up on some yard work that's been put off for the last three weeks, as well as enjoying some of the fruits of my labor.

I'm enjoying a Hacker-Pschorr Sternweisse right now. It's a limited edition beer, and not your typical Dunkelweizen (well, that's what I'm calling it, anyway ). The focus is on the malts, bready and lightly toasty, with a restrained spicy yeast signature playing the supporting role. The banana aroma seems to be the most restrained of all, with the cloves coming in at medium level. In a way it reminds me of Schneider (original recipe), but much less intense. A very easy drinker, especially for those not too into the yeasty aspect, that finishes pleasingly dry and leaves you wanting more.

    Cheers!

Beer Camp is finished! Two of my three or four favorites to close it out. Alt Route and Double Latte. Overall the hoppy beers disappointed and the malty beers were very good.

I have to admit my anticipation for this has dwindled. I still do not have the box available to me. I am in upstate NY but I have seen all the reviews thus far and I am thinking oh maybe I can live without. May I ask you . . . would you buy the box again now that you know what's in it?

I can't speak for anybody else, but I would and did.

Overall I was very pleased with it- I wasn't expecting anything earth shaking, though, just fundamentally sound beers with a collaborative twist on them. Plus, at least a third of the box contained beers that I wish would be available by themselves.

I hope you at least get to try some of them soon. Cheers!

Ah, PtE, you are always so damn good! I was planning to be productive today, but had the Hop Drop n' Roll in the shower post run and then somehow this stuff ended up in a glass, so I think it's going to be a mellow, no work kind of day around here! Cheers to lazy Sundays, BAs!

Taking a quick break from beer for some late-lunch brunch: 3 scrambled eggs mixed with leftover ribeye from yesterday (tossed in spices), and refried black beans with cheddar, all of which was drizzled with Texas Pete:

Now, to wash it all down with a New Local Beer: Beer'd Brewing Mystery Bag DIPA.

I picked up two growlers for personal consumption of the brand-new Beer'd brews: Mystery Bag, and One Night Only. You saw the latter highlighted last night on WBAYDN?, as well as the first appearance of today's ribeye.

Details and review linked over on New Beer Sunday.

    Cheers, BAs!

I could watch Gavin Harrison drum all day long.

I actually have a second box unopened. Plan to share that later. As to the question, yes, I would buy it, but then $25 isn't much to me. But, a different question, are you missing some amazing beer if you don't get a box? No, you're not. As I think almost everyone has said, 12 good beers, no great ones. Other than the Cigar City Maibock (probably my favorite) none were really unique. So don't sweat it if you don't get it.
