I refuse to use a bottle opener. Always use my lighter.

When standing and holding a beer, it must be in the left hand.

I organize my 'cellar' by style.

I have a spreadsheet with my craft beer inventory and I update it weekly.

Checking out a store's beer selection regardless of the situation. I could be at a gas station filling up, running into a grocery store for milk, whatever, but I always have to check out the beer selection at a store I have never been to. Never know when you will stumble upon that rare gem at a new store.

I don't like beer if iI don't like how it tastes after i've tried it in all formats, at all temps, at many vintages, and still found it lacking. But I consider this a personal fault/quirk.

I always like my beer in a glass UNLESS:

A: I am mowing the lawn or other yard work
B: playing disc golf or golf
C: I'm taking a shower (don't drink in the shower very often, just when I'm going out and wanted a beer before and don't have much time.)

As some one mentioned before, I don't usually like to have more than one of the same beer in a sitting.

My drinking buddies look at me funny when I review a beer, and refuse to take a sip before I'm finished noting every single nuance of the smell and appearance.

For me its #properglassware. I broke my favorite glass on my trip to SC. I had to take it with me. I even take glassware with me to people's homes when invited.

Also, as mentioned, taking a picture of the my beer, in a glass, next to the bottle, when I'm having it for the first time.

The spreadsheet - continually morphing. The latest add was an inventory page, so now I gotta go count stuff once in a while. Haven't gotten to the point where I update it every time a beer is consumed. THAT would be weird...:astonished:

Then maybe the ridiculous amount of time taken sniffing, sipping, swirling - all the jazz associated with experiencing the totality.

Food pairings shows up a lot. Honestly, I wish I understood more. Some are definitely heinous, but ones I have enjoyed where people (chef and brewer) actually know what they are doing have been sublime.

I second many of what was already said.

Additionally, I really don't want salty snacks with my IPAs. I think salt and hops clash.

Smelling my beer has become at least as important as tasting it...so much so that I habitually smell any drink. I catch myself doing this with a glass of water sometimes and feel like such a tool.

#ProperGlassware as often as possible, I can sometimes be that guy who brings more glassware to a tasting than more beer

It's the food and beer pairing aversion for me, and it's somewhat relieving to see that there are others who share that sentiment. This basically sums it up...
The furthest I go with beer and food pairing is having a subtlety flavored, crisp, refreshing, light/medium bodied brew with a meal, with emphasis on washing the food down instead of enjoying how the food and beer are mingling. To that end, just about any decent Pils gets the job done, or sometimes an Amber ale/lager if the mood strikes. I still won't go to AAL territory, though, I'd rather have water and save the calories and money.

Yeah, this is what I thought too. I'm not one of those people (yet) who buys a bunch of 6-packs of things I like and drinks them all day/with food, etc. At the moment, I have 85 beers in my collection, exactly 1 of which I would consider cheap/extremely easy to get, which is a Sixpoint RAD. The rest are either too expensive (if easy to obtain) or too rare to "waste" pairing with food. If/when I get to the point where I know exactly what I like and what I want, I'm sure I'll be drinking those all the time and with many meals.

I organize by style as well, except my Bruery and Founders stuff, which I keep together with their respective brewery due to the high amount of beers I have from each...with Founders, I have all the Backstage Series in order from Blushing Monk through the Smoked Porter

I go the opposite way with this. Recently had some Troegs Perpetual with Mexican food and ended up wishing I'd just got a Dos Equis, as the Perpetual seemed less than enjoyable. On the other hand, an IPA with Fish & Chips really goes down a treat. Perhaps I need to dial down on the spices.

As for the even numbers, I TOTALLY get that. Do it myself.

yes and its weird. I usually dislike really hoppy beer/ale. But pair it with really hot food and I tend to enjoy it. it cut's the heat. no idea why I love hot food so much, lol

I am talking really hot here, not just tex-mex hot. Talking gumbo so hot you start sweating 2 seconds after you smell it hot. lol

Red Savina Habanero and carribean, one I just grow those and love those.

I go to a beer store near work during my lunch hour every single day, even though they usually only put out new beers once a week. I just have to see if they have anything new, even if I don't plan on buying something.

I can understand that I don't like scotch ales/wee heavy's I continue to try new ones but its not my thing. The only ones I can stand are Backwoods Bastard (which I actually enjoy but since it's BA I'm not sure how much it actually counts), Central Waters BA scotch ale (noticing a pattern?), and Bellhaven. I don't doubt you dislike the style but it does surprise me that something that has that little flavor, most of the time, certain people find so offensive.

Besides I was merely connecting the dots between your OP in this thread and posts I've read about you disliking AAL's in the past.
