Another list that makes the list of worlds dumbest lists. Well done I say!

Hey tkdchampxi, yeah, I can see how that phrasing was kind of off. So the methodology behind the piece was this: I asked a whole bunch of beer experts (you can check the piece for exactly who) to nominate their favorite craft breweries across the U.S. Then I compiled them, added my own favorites (several of whom did not make the cut), and then nearly 14,000 people voted on the 118 nominees. After that, there were some editorial decisions made so that the top 50 wasn't just a "Who has the biggest Twitter following" contest, but I tried to honor the people's vote as much as possible. Pretty sure the list doesnt distinguish what they are rating it by, for all you guys know they could be rating the 50 best craft breweries at wrestling in a pool of lube. More is taken into account than just the beer they make or a one off brew they had that everyone loved. Chill out and have a beer, stop being so full of your homestate..

 

I always wonder if companies pay money to get a higher ranking on lists like this.

 

Oh I don't mind that none of my favorite locals made the list. I do mind that most of them do not distribute to Alabama.
I'll be fair though, unless the beer is born here
"Oh we've got to distribute to Alabama! It's such a lucrative market!" -said no brewery ever.
We must make great beer here or we won't get any till everyone else has had it forever.

 

It was a vote of the site/magazine's readers based on nominations from a "panel of experts".

If nothing else, it is some indication of how the larger population of craft beer drinkers (i.e. people who drink craft beer, but are not members here) rates things.

Solid list, would be hard pressed to turn down beers from any of the top 50 and also if they toss in a top 75, think it would be a pretty solid list as well.

Would be interesting if we compiled a list based on our own boards selfish views on top 50 US craft breweries... Of course we would first argue for a month about what exactly IS a craft brewery.

 

No Bear Republic or Hangar 24?!?! That list both sucks and blows!

Great list as far as the breweries but like most i dont agree on the order with sierra and maine beer company being sooo low on the list.
