IPLs/Imperial Pilsners always make me wish I were drinking an IPA instead but this stuff sounds great. Would love to try it.

I've been on a lager and pilsner kick lately and this beer really hit the spot. Shot next to the same kind of tree it's brewed with!

I am building a vertical myself, so I am interested to hear your thoughts.

Verticals? Is this thing even likely to age well?

They were all surprisingly awesome! @beergorrilla preferred the 2012, @BRZvice preferred the 2013 and I preferred the 2014 ... with the 2012 not far behind!

2012 was surprisingly juicy with an almost tropical-like hop profile, a bit sweet, pine was in the background but still quite prevalent.

2013 was more similar to the fresh bottle but not quite as resiny and a little subdued. Still very good though!

2014 was huge with pine resin and bitter hops, pilsner malt, almost woodsy. Amazing!

Unfortunately those were my last 2012 and 2013s but I did tuck away a couple 2014s to build another small vert. Well worth it IMO!

Love the Green Well! If I lived in GR--and could afford it--I would eat there every day!
Always an excellent tap list, too.

I still have about three 2013s, I think I am going to hoard them for a while and try to build a 5 year vertical. Hopefully, my friends at Shorts continue to make this awesome beer.

Quick question....has Shorts ever attempted to age this in a gin barrel?? I love the Spruce Pilsner and have also enjoyed Half Acre Pony Pils in a gin barrel.

If this were to be done, I wouldn't expect it to be bottled but would be interested if this has ever been released in pub or at a festival??

Seems like it would be an AWESOME fit!

I don't think gin is usually aged in barrels, so I imagine they'd be hard to source on any scale. Doesn't really complement the crisp, clean taste you want from gin. You could probably track down enough to do it as a pub-only offering though.

Half acre has a gin barrel pony pilsner, so it's definitely possible.

I was curious about this too earlier. Apparently it's aged in casks pretty frequently, so I guess it's possible. But I agree, I don't think gin + wood sounds like a very good mix...and then mixed with a beer that's already very flavorful, IDK.
