    Lexington Avenue Brewery (LAB) - Asheville, NC - a one-off.... Buck Mild, brewed with coconut and cayenne peppers. This was submitted at a NC contest I judged earlier this year. Diving in....

    As posted in the IPA day thread:

    In celebration of today, I just opened a can of Heady Topper that is several weeks old (gasp right??? who drinks it past 48 hours?) and have the following to say despite its age:
    1. It is extremely delicious
    2. I haven't gone blind
    3. My balls have not shriveled in to raisins
    4. The sun will still rise tomorrow
    5. Did I mention it is extremely delicious?

    Had this for a couple of months now and I figured it was a good time to open it. Bottle #1264 of...?

    Heavy on the raspberry and other dark fruits on the nose. Raspberry, dark fruits on the front with enough carbonation to cut the sweetness. Milk(?) chocolate in the middle with mayeb a bit of molasses. Finish very clean with a slight tartness that carries on for a while. I still don't know why BA classifies this as an American Strong Ale, when it is clearly listed as an Imperial Brown Ale on the brewer's website.

    So it's August 7th, IPA day, and just today appear cases of Pumking on my local store's shelves. F that. It's 80 degrees outside. No pumpkin in the country is ready for harvest. WAY too early. September I would understand but not the first week of August.
    But it's IPA day. Here's one I grabbed a couple weeks ago when visiting my in-laws in upstate NY. I also had a Rivertowne Dayman earlier. Both average but decent and always nice to try new things.
