It's somewhat accepted there, and IMO still stupid.

Don't even try to compare the two.

I definitely agree it's stupid. Just sayin. I know FFF is more "metal" than the lovely NG but all breweries should be respected by visitors.

To be honest, if I had been there, I would have tried to clean a bunch of that crap up.

I have been to Dark Lord Day and have seen the dead soldiers all over. I have been to several other beer festivals / beer releases and have seen the same thing happen. You have completely missed the point.

Its a change that has happened at the New Glarus R&D Sour release. New Glarus is a beautiful rural brewery with friendly inviting people who like to keep a clean shop. Some folks today have disrupted that "vibe" by leaving bottles around and being messy. What I am saying is this normally does not happen at New Glarus. It is sad to see that attitude becoming acceptable even at New Glarus. Frankly its not acceptable behavior. Lets be adults and pick up after ourselves. Its the equivalent of being invited into someones home trashing thier house and expecting them to clean up your mess because its their house. It just aint right man! Its totally rude. That also how good things get taken away if they become a hassle to the brewer/brewery staff.

I understand and I got the point before this post. I said in a follow up post that it shouldn't matter what brewery it's at, people should respect the brewery and the property. I'm fully aware of how beautiful NG is! I don't disagree with your post at all, man. Unfortunately craft beer has become a craze where people need to get the latest and greatest at all costs, and unfortunately it also attracts people without manners.

Dark Lord Day also has a small army of temporary workers to clean up the grounds. New Glarus has about 10 employees working at any given time, and cleaning up the parking lot is probably not on any of their job descriptions.

Question: My wife and I want to come out Sunday morning but would have to bring the kids. Was the scene appropriate for children to be around (6 and 2) ?

Seeing how the mental age for the majority of the people there will be in that range they should be ok.

Just kidding. I brought my kids there before, but not for something like this. They might be a tad bit bored.

Ticket line went SUPER quick.. Maybe 15 minutes? Beer line on the other hand was a bit disorderly and took at least an hour.. I was 267 and got in line at 930 and got my beer at 1045ish.. Not terrible once they opened up the registers in the side tent.. Before that it seemed like forever before we moved 3 feet..

Also.. If you do bring your kids.. Do me a favor and don't bring your push jogging stroller please! Really brutal to have in line behind you and even worse to get run up on the back of your leg when not expecting it... Thanks

Any place in Madison with decent food that will let us pop bottles?

You are not allowed to open bottles at any bars/restaurants in Madison. You'd have to go to a park and risk the open bottle fine if caught.

Stuff went well for us, we got there at about 9 and got tickets around #700. We basically just wandered around for two hours then got bottles after waiting in the line for about 10 minutes. It was going by ticket number but so many people were leaving for food and stuff that I think it was just for the first big part of the line. For what it's worth, the vast majority of people I saw leaving all had two bottles apiece, not several.

    that's the joke
