Best Straight Stout?

If bourbon county brand stout qualifies, then that is a winner in my book. I've tried a couple of "hype" beers and that one is on the top of my list next to Supplication by RR

Just drank a Founders Imperial Stout...MAN, is that good.

 

Wow, that sucks. LOVE the non-barrel Darkness, easily my favorite stout and what I was going to answer.

2nd place would be New Holland Night Tripper.

Even though I hate the company, Rogue Shakespeare Stout is (was?) my favorite straight up stout (unless the oats disqualify).

 

Great Lakes Blackout stout, Ten Fidy a close 2nd.

 

If you can name me these PA stouts that are better than SN, I am all ears.

 

I've recently been trying to expand my horizon on beers, other then saizons, barley wines, ipa's and pilsners and really want to get into stouts but hate coffee and chocolate flavored ones.... So I was just wondering if there are any good stouts out there that anyone should like, even someone that might not like stouts (something so good that I'll have to like it). I've had the cigar city hunaphu and loved it, so good!!!! but a little hard to find year round

Preferably something easily accessible in the philly/jersey area

SIERRA NEVADA - Narwhal

 

Sierra Nevada Rain Check isn't bad if you don't want coffee or chocolate. I think it's a little sweeter than most stouts, with definite notes of mulling spices, like cinnamon and allspice. Those mask any coffee or chocolate. Very intersting stout.
