This is me as well, I may some day try a sweet potato beer, but I really can't see myself doing pumpkin.

Fullsteam out of Durham makes a damned good sweet potato beer; Carver. Fullsteam is very creative with local produce and is anything but mainstream. Carver is really a nice beer.

Jeff stout from Lazy magnolia gets a second vote here. Easy to find also. Pretty good.

I didn't know this. I'll have to look for it. I've never had a sweet potato beer or a pumpkin beer, like a poster above I've always thought it a strange combo. But I do love seeet stouts and porters so I will give this one a try whenever I can find it or go to Durham! I'm in Fayettehell, so it's unlikely to be anywhere down here.

It is tasty. I remember it having spices like a pumpkin pie flavor.

It definitely did, spices weren't overpowering.

That's right. In my head it was something other than pumpkin.

I have to vote for the Lazy Magnolia Jefferson as well. Sweet Potato is one of those flavors that can go wrong very easily, and LM seems to recognize this and get it right.

Others have mentioned it, but I'll reiterate, Bells Sweet Potato stout is very tasty. I've only seen it on draft at Bells, but it's definitely worth a try if you see it listed. I'm sure it'll make a few appearances this fall.
