It's been SN Summerfest for me recently. I mix in some other stuff, but this is the first time I've bought several cases of a beer in one season.

Oberon the first half of this summer. Then I went on vacation, now I'm back to being all over the place.

Part of me really wants to become an expert on 10 beers that I really "know" and could identify in a blind tasting.

I am not sure what they would be though. Founders Centennial, Dirty Bastard, and Porter would be a great start. 10$ six packs would make it easy.

I like La Fin du Monde but I can get a 4 pack of 12oz bottles for about that price. Makes an easy choice for me.

I'm in the 'try different as often as possible' camp.
I have several 'regular's that I keep on hand. Like Ft. George Cavatica, SN Ovilla, Goose Island Ogden, Fin du Monde, etc.

However, every time I make a trip to the store I'm looking for something new to try. That's part of the fun for me. My wife and I look forward to cracking open something new and giving it a try.
And we have some of our favorites that we look forward to as well.
I think if we drank too much of the same beer we'd lose our appreciation.
I went on a buying spree when Avery's Samael came out. After the 4th one we were tired of it. Now I know to space those out over a few months instead of a couple weeks.

In the last 4-5 months I've been buying 2-3 six packs and then supplementing with other stuff I want to try, for a few reasons:
    • I don't want to rate/take notes on a beer every time I drink one.
    • I like having beers to take with me to see friends for bbq's and hangouts, and if I have only 1 or 2 of a beer I'd get mad taking it and then not getting to enjoy it.
    • I've gained a greater appreciation for beers that are actually easy to get, ie at my local store. Anyone had a Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye lately? It's awesome. Or Boulevard Tank 7. Always available.
    • I think after chasing and rating 1500+ beers, I tend to know what styles and brands I like so I don't just buy as many randoms anymore. Yes I'll buy that new Stone IPA bomber, or Maine with a fresh date on it, or some new thing from breweries I like (yes, even the random Dogfish Head ones), but some breweries I just don't buy from anymore.

I drink what I want, more often than not I just want a Two Hearted. I am not denying myself from experiencing other beers, other beers are denying me the experience of drinking more Two Hearted.

There will always be new beer out there to taste and you will never end up tasting everything. At some point you have to realize that there may only be a handful of beers that are better/more enjoyable than what is right in front of you.

I've been trying to get sick of Arrogant Bastard, Founders Red's Rye (when available, now :slight_frown: ), and Bells Two Hearted ale among others, but it's just not working.. :stuck_out_tongue: Lately, it has been Lagunitas Imperial Red. Cheers!

Right now I have too many Stouts and IPAs off of the BA Top 250 list, therefore, I am drinking beers off of this list over, and over, and over again...

Whatever I can get at a local Kentucky store that has close out cases for 12 dollars a piece. Last week it was 2 cases of Greenflash's GrandCru, before that Big Eddies Russian Imperial Stout, Baltic Porter, and Wee Heavy....ALL 12 dollars a case. A great bargain and excellent brews.

This is a good thing for you. You should get used to drinking the same beer for a while now that you are starting homebrewing.

Paulaner Hef has been finding its way into my basket with every grocery trip lately...no matter how minute the list. One-off runs for aspirin, bread, or cookies? Paulaner is coming home with it!

After having sampled a lot of the more infamous brews I moved onto more unknown brews.... Needless to say I've grown tired of wasting money on mediocre beer and nowadays tend to stick to my go to's. I allllways have two hearted in the fridge and find myself reaching for it over more "acclaimed" brews.

    Yes and no.
I can't say that I will be stuck on ONE beer at a time, but I do keep one or two "daily drinkers" around - generally fairly inexpensive, good but not great beers that I supplement with the other stuff - mostly bombers, bigger beers, barrel, quad, IIPA, etc ones.

Before craft, yes, Miller Lite. Now, not so much. I'm still in that "kid in a candy store" phase. We'll see if I grow up.

I usually try something new every time I go to the store. When I go to the bar and they have Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro I have a hard time not getting it.
