I really hope more breweries follow this trend...

    ---

FORT COLLINS, CO (August 1st, 2014) -Funkwerks, the award-winning Saison-focused brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado, is now packaging in 330ml bottle 4-packs. Now Funkwerks customers can enjoy the same beloved Tropic King and the award-winning flagship Saison in a smaller, more convenient bottle.

For three years now, Funkwerks has been bottling solely in 750ml bottles. Brad Lincoln, co-owner/co-founder explains, “people tend to save larger bottles of beer for a special occasion or to share with others.” Smaller bottles provide more variety, accessibility, and the convenience of enjoying a single beer without the commitment of a larger bottle.

“Smaller bottles additionally help in maintaining freshness,” explains Gordon Schuck, co-owner/co-founder, “if people are opening a larger bottle and saving half of it for a later time, the beer will lose it’s carbonation and quickly oxidize with so much air left in the bottle.”

Previously Funkwerks did not have the capacity to accommodate the increase in production that would come with bottling in 330 ml bottles, but their recent expansion of two 30-barrel fermenters increased their fermentation capacity by almost 43%. “It’s a relief to have more fermenters. We are certainly using them,” said Gordon.

Now with the ability to brew more beer, Funkwerks has also decided to return to kegging their beer in half barrels, reducing the cost per fluid ounce for accounts.

Totally agree. I even like 4-packs more than 6-packs for the most part.

Saw this on Instagram and got really excited. Love their standard saison but would love to see different beers offered in this format as well.

I wish they would bring back the Funkwerks White... particularly in 4-packs.

They have continued to release White in their taproom, it just hadn't been hitting stores.

For years, this and (Epic's Big Bad Baptist) have been my two beers I have long wanted to see make it to 4 packs. Now that I have moved and am no longer in their distribution range they go ahead and do it. What a tease.

Anyways, I know what I will be drinking when I am back for Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately in my mind, the white has been going through some changes. Some good and some bad. Once they're happy with the recipe though, I think it'll be better than I fondly remember it.

While I've grown to dislike 330's as singles - the idea of having them as a 4-pack is great. I bet I end up buying a lot more of their saison than I would have if it were only in bombers.

Picked up a four pack of saison from funkwerks last night. Damn happy to have it in a four pack.

It's like buying Yeti, all the varieties are great, but I always buy the four packs of regular because they're more cost efficient, and because I rarely have someone to share (a stout that big) with.

Is there any other beers besides the standard saison coming in four packs?

there were three beers available the day I was there (well, days, yesterday and today). Two were 25 oz or 22 oz (can't remcall presciesstly, was a little having a good time that days!__). pOssed as a fovkerf'd!

But yeah, there was only one available in four packs on the days I was actually there. I got the impression it varied according to what was brewin'. They were obviously brewing the day I first arrived, as I'm a homebrewer and I could smell it. DELICIOUS!

That's me too. It's a brilliant move. More breweries should do this, especially with the more potent/sour etc. brews.

Yes; they posted that both Saisons and Tropic King were introduced in 4 packs at same time. I think Tropic King just sold out first and that they will be bottling the next batch tomorrow.

Tropic King as @denver10 said, and Deceit is coming to four packs relatively soon. Beyond that it sounds like they are undecided if they will do any others in four packs.

    Deceit too?

I wasn't going to bother shipping any beer back home with me when I visit, but if I find Deceit in 4 packs I might have to reconsider. Saison AND Deceit 4 packs might be too much to pass up.

Brad told me they would like to do Deceit 4-packs but they will (most likely) have to cost a few more $ than Saison/Tropic King. Wasn't clear to me if they were definitely going to do Deceit 4-packs and I didn't push the question.

Regardless, looking forward to the 4-packs hitting our distro.

Deceit in 4-packs = always in my fridge. I've grown to really like the big Belgian goldens and Tripels and that beer is one of the best.
