What beer are you drinking now? #662

From last night. Wife went to Philly with some friends and brought back a few treats. Thank god she is into beer.

 

The highest rated Lithuanian beer on the other site. It's definitely good. I would say it's the best or up there with the best beers I've had here so far. Quite a few misses in their brewscape so it's not hard to be the best.

It's 14% with a ton of added spices I'm guessing. Getting no real beer character. It's like the beer version of mulled wine. Would be great for wintertime.

 

I'm in California & just crawled out of bed. While I'd like to join you, I'll add my post in a few hours.

Well, we safely landed in Hawai'i! Plane ride was really bumpy, when we hit a band from Tropical storm Julio, weren't sure if we were going to make it. Something about feeling like you're on a roller coaster, but you're on a plane instead, just doesn't sit well with me (I'm a weenie, I know). It's 5:34 in the morning here, been up since 4, due to time change and a rooster crowing, good times.

Did get a couple cool pics for y'all though. This was yesterday morning in La'ie, hard to believe I live here now


Got stuck in highway traffic, on the way to the University. Not a bad view though...


Since craft is a bit hard to find here, have to drink like the locals. It's just an average island lager, think Kalik w/ no skunk, or Red Stripe with a little more hop/malt flavor, but it's fitting for the environment. Not a bad thing when a 12 pack is the price of local bombers I used to get back in Charleston. I'll gladly put up with it though

Birthday beer for breakfast:

 

Saw that at the store yesterday and was tempted to grab a bottle, it seems like it is right up my alley. However, I have never really been able to get into Lagunitas beers so didn't. Reconsidering my decision....

up the street from my house, the liquor store there was a summer sale. of course i stocked up on surly furious, overrated, and coffee bender. i also grabbed some boulevard brewing tank 7, brett-saison limited, and love child 4. later i will cross over the bridge to get some new glarus and toppling. the joys of living on the border. cheers!

 

Way, way, way above the rDev at about 18% with this beer. If I were to take rDevs into account, I guess American Belgo sorts of beers are my favorite. I wounded up scoring it a 4.38/5 which makes it one of my favorite beers. A lot of reviewers described it as a mess, I'd describe it as bliss. A good example of needing to try a beer for yourself before passing on it.

Getting excited for a couple of upcoming beers... New Glarus Cran-bic, and indeed's double day tripper ipa. up until now this year...toppling has blown me away, of course surly, lagunitas, and founder's to name just a few continue to make great stuff. boulevard has been a great staple as well. still, despite my continued growler fills of fresh toppling goliath offerings, in which i feel spoiled, and surly, and town hall, and dangerous man, and indeed... my favorite beer so far this year has been indeed's let it ride. my god, what a beer. march can't come fast enough. cheers! 100% trade worthy if you can't get it. (nfi) i am not into trading.... too much leg work and too many amazing local beers and country wide beers to get my undies in a bundle, but when the occasion arises on a trip, or i know someone is going somewhere they are usually kind enough to bring me some stuff back, but that is as far as i go. i am not going to wait in lines for anything. however, i would love to get my grub hooks on some fat head brews.

 

The rain finally stopped, the sun is out, and the critters are going about their business as usual. A great enough reason to pop this beauty that's been in the fridge too long. Cheers to halftime for the week!
