Maltmaster420 hit the nail on the head - if you look at old archives re: the Portland beer scene, most of the oldest pioneers talk about how they gathered at one of 2 places - Pro Row or HB. Without Produce Row, we probably don't have Widmer, Bridgeport or Portland Brewing, and maybe Cascade (Art). Now that doesn't seem like a tremendous loss until you figure in how many brewers that everyone loves learned their craft at one of the larger shops.

God only knows what i would pay to track down that misplaced keg.....

Anyone have any idea what the Cheerful Bullpen will be serving? I have no desire to chase the goose, but it would be extremely hilarious to find the BS's lost Coffee BCS at the Cheerful Bullpen.

Wow, I had no idea of that part of history.

Anyway, my answer probably came off overly dismissive. I always find good stuff to drink when I go there, but it's never been a place that I've gone to for the beer. And, I can't recall ever hearing about them doing a major beer event before.

Yeah, that's a strong possibility in my mind as well. I mean... Penny Diner?

Chris, just to confirm...is everything on the list for the event at Belmont in kegs? I ask because the Produce Row event is 3oz bottle pours.* Are you guys doing small pours only? (That's my assumption) Selfishly I'm hoping it's not flights only, as the GI wilds are completely skippable for me.

    Thanks!

    * Secondhand information....but it was from my brother, who called PRC and asked.

Belmont is cash only, not sure about Produce Row...but cash is always a safe bet. Do it.

Dude I feel you...BUT, my brother was told $3.50 per pour. Which, for pours of BCBVS & KH, ain't fuckin' bad. That being said, I'm not going.

Produce Row is awesome, and one of my favorite places to hang out in PDX. They are not a "beer bar" but they consistently have very good stuff on draft. Dbl Mt. has done their killer Green/Red release there the past few years, and the beer/whiskey pairings are always good. Went a few months ago and they had Hop Venom, Upright 7, Logsdon Saison Bretta, Commons, Firestone, etc. etc. On top of that, they always have bottles of Pappy if you want to damage your bank account

Even better, they actually have some space (including outdoors) to move around, and they often times have a DJ playing music (which outside of Apex blasting megadeath is a rarity).

Im also taking this as a sign that Oregon will get BCBS again this year. yeee!

ouch, 3oz and from bottles? I'm wondering how many KH they will have since I'm assuming that most people will jump those.

Event at John's was cool. Free tastes of Ogden, Juliet, Lolita and '12 BCS Coffee. Migration Week swag of glass and a t-shirt. And the kicker...22s of '12 BCS Coffee for sale. $20. Worth it.

That's more Chicago love than I've heard of anywhere in the NW. This weeks seems legit.

The event at Belmont was packed but not crowded. The place was happy. The crew did a really nice job of getting beverages in the thirsty hands. I went with the stout flight and a glass of Juliet. I previously had all but the Juliet which was a lot better than I expected. The proprietors was sweeter than I remembered and the tasty coconutty goodness was still strong. That is I beer I could make sweet music with every week. I am a sucker for the bcbs and I was happy to have it on tap. I try to get a case every year and rarely make it through until the next batch comes. It's one of the very best I have had and I love the 12 oz bottles.

Well done by Belmont tonight....and I was able to walk away with six 4packs of 3way.

agree on belmont. there was a line, but appears everybody got served that wanted any. proprietors was indeed delicious, and the Backyard Rye tasted better than the last time I had it when it was too sweet for me.

would have loved just to get a glass of Proprietors though

This. Cheers to the crew at Belmont for being well prepared and executing a low-key, smoothly run event!

Kudos also to those in attendance - I showed up prepared to throw some 'bows, but I quickly checked my formerly-Midwest self when I saw everyone else just calmly form a line at the bar at 4:55. Well done, folks.
