Does anyone know if Founders changes up their Variety Pack seasonally or does it remain the same. If it changes....what is currently in it?

The only Founders "variety pack" I know is going to a store that sells singles and making your own.

I think it’s the same one every time. At least it has been every time I've bought or seen one the last few years since they moved into PA.

I have never seen a Founders variety pack. If so, I hope it has Porter, FBS, KBS, CBS, Imperial Stout, and Double Trouble. I like stouts; sue me!

The Founders mixed "case" I used to get had Red's Rye, Porter, Dirty Bastard. and Centenial IPA. But it's been a few years since I purchased it. I think they replaced Red's Rye with a pale ale. I used to like Red's Rye but it's hard to find fresh these days.

This year Red's was only available December-March :slight_frown: Not sure if next year will be the same or what. It is available year-round on draft, and you can search for it with their Beer Finder :grinning:

It is a mixed full case (Four x 6 )only available in PA as others have said. Pale Ale, Porter, Centennial, and Dirty Bastard. Cheers!

This is what I used to get. Haven't picked one up since they dropped Red's Rye.

I've had the Variety Case before, used to be Red's Rye P.A. Porter, Centennial IPA, and Dirty Bastard. Now replaced Red's Rye with the Pale Ale. This is only available in PA?

Is this because we buy cases at distributors here? Can you guys in other states not buy cases or something? I know it's actually the opposite way around, but all other states buying beer is weird to me since I'm so used to PA, what do you guys do if you want a full case of something? If I were to buy 4 separate six-packs at a shop here it would be heavily marked up!

Some stores offer case discounts, but many do not. Our six packs are less taxed than yours, though.

One of the most remarkable things I have learned in my time spent on here is that most of the members of BA have never purchased an entire case of beer, mostly because they don't have to.

From what I understand you guys not only have some great distribution, but also make out with rare stuff because you have to buy by the case? So you end up with a whole case of something that in most states we are limited to buying one or two bottles per customer.

We can buy cases of a lot of stuff in most states, but the rarer stuff is nearly impossible to get cases of just due to demand and availability.

How does PA handle 'special releases' like say KBS? Can they sell single bottles or is it by the case and KBS just skips PA?

In PA bottle shops have to have beer available to drink on premise(also limited to a 12 pack per trip in the store) since our laws are weird. distributors are only aloud to sell cases. i think its cool founders does this for pa.

Beware the founders mix case. I stopped buying founders due to poor dating on the case. The case says packed on x date but the beer inside is not bottled on that date. I got some old pale ale in a freshly packed case. Founders refuses to even reply to my emails so I stopped buying their beers. I really do not miss their beer that much. Founders lost out on at least 12 cases a year from me. Funny thing is around me double trouble is not a seasonal anymore. It is available year round and comes pre aged as well. Lots of old founders around here.

    Enjoy

That is our dirty little secret, most places just break down cases and sell 4 packs of stuff like KBS. Illegal yes. Some places sell the entire case but they seem to be rarer than those skirting the law.

These variety packs and mixed cases that no one has ever heard of are almost always Pennsylvania exclusives. PA laws are a bit screwy, the brewers are doing what they can to help them out. Bells and Founders variety pack/mixed cases do not even exist in Michigan, unless we make our own.

It is good they make mix packs for us. The majority of Pa will have a hard time buying a six pack of beer to try before a case purchase. Odd laws here. When you find a bottle shop you can only buy 194 or 196 ounces oer transaction. This means buy and go to your car and come back in to buy more. Fun times.

    Enjoy
