Good noon, all you remarkably rowdy Rauchbier revelers and revoltingly rebellious Roegenbier regulars, Happy New Beer Sunday.

    Top that, UJ

Beauty morning, just right temps, spent stomping OCC (ordinary corrugated cardboard), pushing recycled paper, wrestling metal, and comingling plastic and cans. To those who spare moments to conserve, Thank You!

Thirsty work, that, and I am sure you are thirsty as well. Let's have a beer, a new beer, that is. Gonna rest a bit with some beer for sure. Suggest you do the same.

Today is the day, and this is the place. Why not TRY a new beer today? TELL us about it. What do you taste, smell, and think? Do you LOVE it? Why? What do you love about it? Not your "cup of tea "(love mixing metaphors heheh)? What didn't you care for in the beer? Your review or a description that tells a story is greatly appreciated by all. Feel free to hopshot our heads (in homebrew fashion of course ) with linked review, pics, videos, and other world wide web wackiness to enhance our virtual tasting session.

Thanks to everyone for their participation, thus making NBS fresh, fun, and informative.

Good morning, Dave and the New Beer Sunday crew! I've got a tasty treat waiting for me today, but I couldn't wait to get my first new beer of the day started. I present one of my last remaining Beer Camp brews: Tater Ridge.

Very, very tasty! Super malt forward, with tons of caramel and toffee. Very balanced bitterness; it's sweet, but not overly so. I would definitely drink it again.

Now that the rating system has changed, I guess this comes out as a 3.84. How did I come to that remarkably precise number? Hell if I know. I think it's very good, but not outstanding. Is that what a 3.84 is? ::shrug:: :astonished:

    Cheers, NBSers!

    New Dampf bier Sunday

    Greetings NBSer's,
And thanks to our host cavedave for the fine lead in.
Our SCMN dry streak continues with the corn and beans starting to show some stress. I've even noticed that I get a little agitated with too many good days in a row. Somehow my psych needs some rain to. Go figure.
Fair week almost done with a fine Honey Ale the overall winner.
My contribution today is a dampf bier which is a hefe made with barley only. I'm fond of it, but many are not. Not sure I'm a fan of the new review system. I sorta' liked the calculator putting the numbers together. Now it is just a stab in the dark, and I guess an opportunity to create numbers that wouldn't be possible before (3.96)

One of the ones I didn't try from that box, as I was too cheap to spring for it, and relied on friends' boxes haha. Sounds delicious, wish I got a chance at it.

Is that what a dampfbier is? Had no idea, still on my untried/unmade list. After reading this, not for long. Sounds delicious, man.

This Week's New Beer Sunday- Lindemans Peche Lambic

    Vleenbeek, Belgium
    Brouwerij Lindemans
    Style- Lambic- Fruit
    2.5% ABV
    12 oz. Bottle

Good morning all the NBS'. I stare at this beer every time I go to my local beer superstore which these days is quite often. Do I buy or do I wait for next weeks paycheck? Well this week I got bold and purchased it with the likes of Samiclaus, Bitburger, Victory and Stone. Of this group I thought that this lambic would be the most interesting of the lot and it certainly ain't cheap at $5.99 a bottle. Beautiful looking bottle in which the foil covers the bottle cap. I little time consuming to remove if you don't remove the foil first.

The beer pours with a small bright white head that quickly disappears but with a huge champagne character. Huge bubble effervescence. The aroma is a bold natural peach scent with a sour taste that quickly goes back to that sweet peach after the swallow. It reminds me of a high quality wine cooler or a jolly rancher candy. Alcohol was not even present at 2.5% ABV. I think I will try the other flavors by Lindemans and a very interesting style that deserves further investigation. Maybe I will try the cassis next.

Continuing on with my line of saisons since its still summer (well sorta if you consider below 70 degree days summer?).

Having the Sierra Nevada Ovila Abbey Saison w/ Mandarins and Peppercorns.

Good thing this one is a sweeter/fuller body since its so cold, lol. This has a real sweet texture and taste to it, sugary and citrus notes go well together, and then it almost finishes tart and dry. I do pick up the spicy notes, which i think go real well with some of the herbal qualities. Of course, it also boasts some nice yeasty/earthy type flavors.

Im not sure how to rate this one, i get caught in the middle of criticizing a brewery for keeping a beer strictly in line with the style and not taking chances -vs- criticizing a brewery for not hitting style marks. I will say the oranges and peppercorns did this beer well in the end. This beer is too sweet for the style though, but still enjoyable. I liked it.

Next week i will finish out my summer saison stash with the Smuttynose Farmhouse Ale.....then its into college football and fall beers!!!

I'll take a break from that 666 thread to try something new. I picked up Pipeworks Imperial Hyperdog when we were in Chicago last week. It's about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday with mostly cloudy skys today. I was up early this morning and have had a good amount of beer. Probably best if I take a break after this one.

This is on the sweeter side, but some of the roasted malts and coffee help break it up. Plenty of chocolate and cocoa along with hints of vanilla. It's a sipper and pretty good if you prefer sweeter stouts. Pretty good milk stout and it is almost akin to a milkshake loaded with flavors. A bit sweet so you it is better off shared with a friend.

My first go-round with that beer, I liked it, but wasn't crazy about it. Man, did it grow on me! It ends up being a perfect Summer thirst-quencher.

Cheers to all the new Beer Sunday Crowd! In keeping with today';s them let me stream my consciouness at you while I drink my beer. Gonzo Imperial Porter. It's a lovely beer.

Pours a rich and dark. If it's not completely black it may as well be because there are no hues and no edges. A thick creamy head of mocha colored foam graces the beer and lasts. leaves lace and plenty of bubbles to linger on top.

Nose is deep roast. Soft breaddiness with a caramel backing. Some bright dark fruits and a sweet bit of chocolate. There is a powerful vanilla on the nose but as fragrant as it is it does not dominate.

Taste is supple and full roast. Chocolate and a bit of nuttiness greets the palate. There's a surprisingly bright dark fruit. This malt is substantial and faintly acrid. There is a smoothness to the flavors form the vanilla which is light on the palate. Creamy full mouthfeel with a touch of it's weight from alcohol. The alcohol is a light warmth as this one finishes bitter with a only a small measure of the sweetness to linger.

    Bold as brass!

    NEW BELGIAN(?) STOUT SUNDAY

Hey NBSers, hope you are all having a great Sunday. We are enjoy a lovely stretch of autumn a bit early here in Lancaster. I'm not a fan of extreme heat so this suits me fine. My family was away so I stayed up late reading on the porch and enjoying this.

Just convinced a TSA agent to let me bring this onboard my cruise. You're allowed to bring one bottle of wine/champagne on. My main argument was it looks like a bottle of champagne right? Cheers y'all!

Your review is perfect! Obscurite was one of my favorites form Ithaca Beers Box of Belgians. I am so happy to see you enjoy it as much as I did. I never get the chance to age these beers but I think this one would hold up from 1-3 years.

    Hey what's going on?!

Well time for another new beer, just like almost every other day. Weird weather, and some new changes and direction for the ratings here on BA if you hadn't all heard about em... which way the wind blows??? we shall soon see.

Today what is up for our hero's flight of fancy. Got lots of new goodies from the West coast and really difficult to go with first. For today will be probably many of one new brews mm mm mm.

    ergo... victim #1.

Blue House Mosaic Pale Ale - El Segundo

El Segundo Brewing Co. - Mosaic Blue House Pale Ale

Final Rating: 74 on a 100 point scale

Review here or read below: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25920/131442/?ba=smakawhat

    ---------------

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A hazy and nice pale apricot orange body. Head is a fluffy off white, big swiss cheese bubbled retention, and some bubbled sticky lacing. Not much clumping or clinging. Looks a very pale classic ale.

How to describe this hop forward aroma. Very solid, herbal green spice, slightly weedy a bit with good garden earth tones. A bit of tropical fruit comes out but with a big spicy herbal bent to it also. Not much sensing malt grain aroma to go with it but overall, quite nice.

Palate comes through like a session IPA. A bit light wet body, almost chalky finish but luckily some malt sweetness and light grains get captured on the tongue. Finishes very clean, almost a bit too light even for a pale ale. Some juiced tropical hop like action definitely comes through, and a very simple neutral yeast that stays out of the way.

Not bad, a fun pale ale, but hints towards session like IPA which is something I am not that fond of. The happy medium is somewhere in here to be found, doesn't hurt to explore it again someday either.

    ----------------

on to the next victim in due time...

A: Pours very dark brown to black with a tan head; the head is quite foamy and fairly persistent. Date on the bottom of the can says Best by 24 Nov 2014.
S: Malty, roasted and sweet. Smells a bit like an authentic cream soda.
T: Pretty much the same as the aroma; very smooth and goes down easily. Some vanilla, but I didn't pick up much in the way of honey, even though it is listed as an ingredient on the can. I'm partial to sweet stouts, and this one definitely delivered the goods. I picked up a bit of bitterness as it warmed, but it was mild at best.
M: Very full and creamy; typical of the style.
O: I really enjoyed this one; it's a very easy to drink sweet stout that I would recommend as an introduction to the style - when it's available, that is.

    - This was a beer I brought back with me from my recent trip to N.C. ; wish I'd packed a few more.

New (Oud) Bruin Sunday! Goose Island's Madame Rose. Enjoying incredibly mild weather outside in SE CT, and cranking up the grill for a late lunch/early dinner.

This is easily the most sour "sour" beer I've had from Goose Island. Very reminiscent of Rodenbach. Not as soft, deep, or complex, but very, very damn good. Tons of Brett in the aroma; tons of barrel on the tongue. Very tart, with a subtle hint of cherries and cherry pits.

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1146/51983/?ba=Roguer
Umm....4.4? Sounds good. +/- rDev doesn't really mean anything to me now.

Is this beer worth ~$27? Umm, since Rodenbach is readily available, I'll go with no, but I'm still glad I tried it.

    Cheers, NBSers!
