I wonder if Bristol will have a cow about Warlock coming here. I'm not sure which came first, theirs (Winter Warlock) or Southern Tier's.

Southern Tier's is a new beer, so it definitely came later

If true, that's great news. Those beers are the best of their kind...at least to me.

Winter Warlock has been around as long as I can remember. Even that horrid XXX version has a pretty long history. ST's is a pretty recent thing.

The most important question would have to be - is it better or worse now? It began as dark brown gasoline. Has it made the transition to teriyaki glaze...or something else altogether? The beer is like Triple Bock's incarcerated 2nd cousin.

The King! Wife's fave pumpkin beer. And I just traded for a bunch of it...and I guess I'll go buy a bunch more tomorrow ;-)

The first time I had Choklat...I went back and bought the case and half they had left at the store. One or two a year is enough for me these days but there was a point in my life where I could not get enough.

Pumking is our single favorite non-BA pumpkin beer. We just drank last years Warlock and we liked that one alot too. The spicing seemed identical to Pumking, so Warlock is essentially the stout version.

What do you think are the chances the whole Southern Tier line comes to CO eventually? I'm not a big fan of the pumpkin beers, but love me some 2X Milk Stout.

Maybe they're testing the waters in a very competitive market before committing. Good move on their part if true.

I would say that Warlock and Pumking will sell well here, so maybe pretty good chances?

I am certainly no expert on this type of thing, but I think testing it based on popular, very seasonal beers like these would probably not tell them much. I guess if they didn't sell at all it would be a clear sign that they wouldn't do well, but assuming these sell as expected, I don't know if they'd get much information out of that though. Although in the end, the only way they'd really know is to start distributing here full time, or more frequently, and see how other stuff does.

XXX bottles were at Coaltrain late last year/early this year for about 25-30$ for a 12oz bottle. Passed.

Whether you like them or not, Southern Tier beers taste different than just about any other brewery. Nearly all of them are on the sweeter side. I think that alone might help them do well. It's not like you're going to be pitting Choklat, Creme Brulee, Mokah, or even their 2xIPA against anything else on the shelf. If you want those and the store doesn't have 'em, you're probably going to go to a different store rather than settling for something totally different.

Had one a few of weeks ago. Definitely still has a strong soy sauce character. I think I have one left.
