If it's Expo, I don't think I'll bother. I managed to get three or four bottles from the last release and that set me straight for awhile. But if it's something else, I can't really argue with making another trip down there.

I already knew what it was but I nominate this as the most helpful post ever. Straight to the point,a link, and no comment.

Not Chez, next sour release isn't part of the Chez family. BPT for Expo will be nice though, looking forward to it.

Was the Expo release bottles only? How many per person did they do in the past?

the past release was 2 bottles per and it was on draft in the pub. It hasn't been in growlers in a long time because someone sold it on ebay or some shit.

    Huh?

I thought that ExpoGrowlerEbayGate was perpetrated by some guy from LA, that sent some mulez to grab the maximum number of growlers, and that why somebody went off on a rant here about "douchebags from LA fuking it all up" or something like that. It was what started the meme.

Expo is the worst beer that necessitates a BPT release that I've had.

Pat himself started the meme with his comments about it in the Alpine Newsletter (from 2012-02-28):
Not sure who added the "douchebag" part but it was just riffing on Pat's thoughts on the matter.

Did Alpine have any of the Boneyard collab Chingadera at their brewery?

Pat's only kicking himself for not forcing S.D residents to bring a bill or proof of residency in order to buy bottles. North Park and further north folks would be restricted to drinking out of the hose out back.

San Diego residents is way too broad of a group, he should just mail out order forms to every resident of 91901 and require them to bring in both a matching ID and a utility bill with their order form. It hits the trifecta for Alpine releases - low tech, locals only, and unnecessarily slow for all parties involved.

I don't think he doesn't want people that live outside of a certain radius from their brewery. He just doesn't want people buying it with the only intention of selling it for profit. A profit from all his hard work. If a true fan wants to drive 4 or 5 hours because he loves the beer than he should be just as entitled as locals. Same reason RR doesn't sell growlers of PtY. I'm surprised Pat even bottles it.

If that were the case, which boggled my mind when it first happened, then growlers would be the route to go. Even if some fucktard tried selling it on ebay (when's the last time you saw beer sell on ebay anyway?) growlers would be something geared more towards the locals.

Bottling it encourages hooking up your trade partners and landing those sick ISO and getting your fill of Heady or Zombie dust (but of course you'll have to add, duh)

Keeping it on tap and growler fills would be a step into the direction of only having the locals enjoy it.
