Just had some 2014 Assassin. Lynch me guys, but I think BA Silhouette is a better beer than this year's version. 2013 is where it's at. So I'm going to agree with @nickapalooza86 here, as I always have. The latest isn't always the greatest.

Too much whiskey, very little of the chocolate fudge from the base stout that I liked about last year's. Very hot and has a paint thinner nose going on. Mouthfeel is spot on, though, very thick and milkshake-like consistency.

Think it will get better with age?

I'm no authority on beer or cellaring by any means, but I have to imagine that the base stout (I'm thinking of the creamy milk chocolate and dark cocoa goodness from last year's) is hiding in there somewhere. If the bourbon dies down enough to let that base stout come out more, then I think this would definitely benefit a lot. The question is whether it actually will do that with time.

Ya know - I did miss the Assassin 2014 thread... I missed it a lot...

But this thread has EVERYTHING - TG, manhood, gargoyles, hatred, hurt feelings, crying, beer, excitement, broken hips, DIPAs, BA stouts, ghostbusters...

RIP: Assassin 2014...You have been replaced.

Looking forward to trying Dart Dodger and Hopititis C at GNBF today. Was hoping they would bring OJ IPA but will these will do

We did a side by side of 2013 assassin and the 2014 the other night. While it's hard to say if the 2013 was more mellow to begin (i had never had it) with or it cooled down, I definitely preferred the 2013. Having tasted the wootstout 1.0 fresh and a year later, I can definitely say I like these hotter beers with a year on them. Will definitely be saving my remaining 2014 assassin bottles until next year at least.

Any off flavors in the 2013 due to aging coffee? Can't say that I enjoy aged BCBCS

Yes. They have brewed Hopititis A, B and C. I think C has been brewed the most, with maybe only one batch of A and B.

I had 2013 fresh and I had a small pour at the Nova Assassin release. I prefer 2013 fresh, I feel like it lost a little something but I'm not sure what that something is.

This may be my favorite beer/batch naming scheme yet... The irony is both funny and no laughing matter...

This! TG has gone way overboard on the last two BA offerings. They taste more like sickly sweet bourbon bombs than a great beer with the barrel to accent it. Naughty Temple was just not a good beer and while assassin is solid it has definitely been better in the past. I'm hoping that KBBS isn't the same but I don't know how it couldn't be if it just came out of barrels. The balance is way off on this years offerings so far.

I am the exact opposite as I had it fresh many times in 2013. I didn't have it again until earlier this year and I liked it better. I have not done a side by side though yet. I though 13 was almost too sweet fresh and I like sweet beers.

I didn't think it was possible but TG has become overload in the Midwest forum. So many other great beers out there and the fanboys are beating this horse to death.
