Figured I'd start a topic for people that have made a trade and not sure if they got the worse end of the deal after all was said and done. Kind of a buyers remorse kind of thing. And this could be a place for fellow BA'ers to make you feel better about those trades.

I've only done around 10-12 total trades, and the only one I wasn't sure about was when I traded a FFF Rue D'Floyd for 2 Mexican Cakes. Thinking I should have asked for more in the initial trade. I will add, in case the guy reads this, that I was happy with the trade overall because I had never had MC, and he did throw in a decent extra.

Fair trade, you did not get hosed.

I would take those Mexican Cakes any day of the week! I love me some MC, can't get enough.

I don't feel like I've ever been hosed, and in my opinion, no one ever should since you agree to a trade before you make it. There have been several trades where I send out much bigger/more rare beer than I receive, but I am fine with that because the guy who got those beers is happy (and I agreed to the trade in the first place). On the flip side, I've had several trades where guys hooked me up on an insane level with all kinds of amazing beer and my trade in return paled in comparison.

If something like the trade you mentioned got you concerned that you didn't maximize your return, then you are doing trading wrong.

Do we really need a thread encouraging BAs to gripe out not having gotten the last ounce of value out of every bottle that's ever passed through their hands? The trade you're referring to is fair, and 90% or more of trades that are done are as well, or else the trade wouldn't have been agreed to by both parties.

Everyone's going to tell you that a win/lose mentality has no place in beer trading (although I'm sure everyone has caught themselves with it a few times).

Constructive criticism aside, it was very fair. MC is fucking delicious and I wish I had more. I've never had Rue d'Floyd so I'd have done the opposite trade, although Cake is next to impossible to find around here so I wouldn't have had 2 to trade. I assume you've had Rue d'Floyd so to me this makes absolute sense.

Now you can have your Cake and eat it too! Or drink one and trade one (more relevant).

But bro, he's totally thinking he could have asked for even more in the initial trade. How is he supposed to live with himself now given that kind of uncertainty?

I'm not saying it wasn't fair, I was just throwing something out, being that I was the topic starter, and I'm not saying this has to be a "gripe" Fest. But let's face it, some people aren't sure if they gave up too much for something, maybe weren't sure what they had.

I imagine that my last trade wasn't seen as fair by the person I traded with.

My growler leaked of Kuhnhenn Dripa and he ended up pouring it out due to lack of carbonation. But, I am sending him a few apology bottles in the mail Monday.

The trade was for some sweet repute.

Seems like a fair trade to me.

Maybe I was a little biased because I really liked the Rue. But then again, I really liked the MC. Like I said, just throwing out an example to get things started.

You should have been an a-hole and asked for at least six Mexican cakes I mean those are total shelf turds!! Me, I'd be happy with the trade!!

Why start the thread you traded one beer in your distro area that you really liked for 2 beers not in your distro area that you really liked? I do not understand why this is even necessary for conversation?

For the record I trade beers that I really like hoping my trading partners will really like them for beers that I am unable to get that I hope I will like all the time. If you are trying to maximize your side of the trade you are doing it wrong bro.

MC is great, you should be happy, they were not as easy to get this year compared to last. I'm not familiar with the 3F brew, but if both parties are happy its a successful trade,it's not about winning trades, if you would have asked for more the other party might have shut it down, and then you get 0 MC.

Why start any thread then? Just throwing out a topic for discussion. Maybe I'll say it a 3rd time, I didn't say I was unhappy with the trade or thought it was unfair, I just chose that as an example to get started.

I think there should be a a 10 paged thread dissection on who won each trade that happens on BA. That way...we'd know better next time.

Maybe the topic title screwed this whole thing up, I wasn't asking if I got hosed, I put that as a general question for the thread.

Sorry mate, their is only one true Crybaby, and his name is Johnny Depp. Your performance is admirable, and at least deserves an honorable mention, but in no way takes the cake (pun unintended).

The title of your thread and bolded lines certainly send mixed signals.....

Well, I certainly didn't mean for it to come off as an unhappy trader or anything like that, it was an honest topic meant to induce healthy conversation.
