At the retailer I work at, standard markup on Cuvee St Gilloise would proably be ~$25-30 bucks. so $65 is outrageous.

With such variance in price and availability, it's no wonder it can be hard to access trade value to get Cantillon stuff.

At a bar, I have paid 75 dollars for a bottle Saint Lamvinus before.

They are indeed. 375s are 3 euro each.

That's an insane price for any beer in my opinion from a retail shop. I could possibly see that price at a bar/restaurant if it had been properly stored and it was an older bottle (Older bottles SHOULD be better but like with any beer problems could arise from a number of different factors). Cantillon has now taken on a wine role, so trying to comprehend them any other way just makes you scratch your head. If you think of it like a great wine that's been aged a while and is from a good "vintage" then you can wrap your head around the prices. But there's comparable styles and beers for much cheaper elsewhere.

Nice. I think it's "Con - TEE - yon" with the y taking on a slight j sound if you wanna get real Frenchy.

Apparently it takes a strong constitution not to buy rare beer for over inflated prices if you see it at a store.

Last bottle of Cuvée Saint-Gilloise I bought I believe I paid around $25. The last bottle of LPG I found was $20 a bottle at a bar and the last LP Kriek I bought was $26.

The most I ever paid for a bottle of Cantillon was at a bar, drink-in, and it was Fou Foune for $50.

Here's what was available when I was at Cantillon 2 weeks ago. My group of 7 shared 9 bottles.

You weren't around for the great Cantiloon shipment thread a few years ago. I've mostly heard can-tee-yawn or can-tee-yone...I prefer the former.

Ridiculous, for a 5%abv fruit beer. Waste of money. I'd rather buy a bottle of good scotch for that price. Overrated.

Just bought a bottle of Cuvee St Gilloise in St. Louis for $22. Very fair and worth every penny.

At an event last month, bottles of Iris sold for consumption at a bar for $35; Hommage was $50. Again, very fair prices.

That's what I was thinking. I have a local bar that has quite a few imports for to go sales as well, and while the bar price is typical bar markup, the to go prices actually beat the local bottle shops a lot of the time.
If that is the to go price then I could not support that kind of gouging no matter what the beer was.
