I would imagine my Fou Foune has the biggest trade value. I don't have much that people go crazy over because I just tend to pick up what I can locally (plus a couple trips to WA/OR a year for shelf beers). I do have a few bottles of Cantillon and 3F though.

Side Project Fuzzy and Bretta Rose' are my biggest whales right now.
Also have Grey Monday and Melange 3 sitting in there but being from California originally they aren't too hard to find.
Fuzzy will be gone on my birthday next month.

The whole Armand'4 series would be it for me

Does it count if it's not mine? :grinning: I've got my buddy's 14 BVDL resting comfortably in my cellar since he doesn't have somewhere adequate to store it. I guess mine would be the BA Abraxas, that I'm sharing with said buddy.

I've got three BCBS from 2012 and my biggest whale is 2012 Samael's Ale from Avery- not sure how long to age that bastard but i'm thinking another year (I had some on tap at Blind Tiger in NYC that was three years old and it was pretty killer)

Either Blabaer '12 750 or BVDL '14 for my biggest "whale"

Not that this link is gospel or anything but Heady is an easy to get beer unlike "true" "whales"

Which are next to impossible to land without other "whales"

Lately though every new somewhat limited beer is an "insta-whale". TG, Side Project, etc., etc. which is a different topic

edit: Yes, I fill silly for typing whale 3 times in one post.

By that list I have none, and that isn't likely to change. It's a silly concept really, since rarity and quality are largely unrelated. All things being equal a great beer that is easy to get and/or inexpensive is better than one that is hard to get and/or expensive.

I'm no whale hunter, but I was lucky enough to stumble on some Fond Gueuze Bierpallieters on BiaB

Assuming my bottles make it back across the pond after my trip here in Europe, I'd have to say:

    Armand'4 Herfst

2005 Cantillon Brouscella Grand Cru ('08 release)

    BA Caffe Americano
    Thomas Hardy's 2008
    BT-CR-GM-MW set

(Those last 3 probably aren't whale status I guess)

    Luscious.
Currently a few cases of Double Sunshine, Heady, and Alchemist mixed cases, but they will soon be going down to the kids' house in DC.
    2008 Mirror Mirror.
A few HF bottles 1-3 years old.
One of my homebrewed wee heavies from 1998... kind of afraid to open it.
I used to drink a lot of the Pacifico brewery quart bottles known as 'ballenas' ('whales' in ingles) when visiting Mazatlan, but none in my cellar.

Still somewhat new to this hobby of actually collecting but I would have to say my "whale" is 3 Floyds Murda'd Out Stout.
