I've really started to enjoy Gose over the Summer and I think the style by itself is quite tasty. It just occurred to me while enjoying a Westbrook that this style might be incredibly tasty in a Michelada. Has anyone tried this or would this be complete sacrilege?
I just had a Gose made by Against the Grain that was made with cilantro, lime and red peppers. There Gose The Neighborhood. I think it would be perfect for this.
Are there still bottles of this around town? I'm coming back to Louisville next month, and I'm trying to stock up on AtG beers.
After viewing this post, getting a Westbrook Gose as an extra in a trade and enjoying a good Bloody Mary I decided this was worth trying. I juiced half a lemon, added a few dashes of soy sauce, Cholula hot sauce, some Worcestershire sauce and a splash of the juice of a peperoncini. I did a small spoon of course Dijon mustard, celery salt, cayenne pepper and ground pepper. Added about 5 oz of low sodium V8 and shook that up in a shaker. I rimmed a glass with sea salt, pepper, spicy paprika and cayenne. Pour the V8 mix into the glass and topped with roughly an equal amount of the Gose. As you are pouring the Gose, I would suggest using less at first so not to water down the spicy mix. I finished it off with a quick stir. I garnished with 2 jalapeƱo stuffed olives and a peperoncini. I think lime might add a slightly better taste than the lemon, but I used the basis of my Bloody Mary mix as the basis for this. Has anyone else tried this so far?
The Gose thinned it enough the Dijon mustard seeds went to the bottom and weren't suspended in the tomato mixture, but they added to it when I got near them. This is something I will definitely play with and try again.
