It depends on your interest. My first books were the Good Guides series (Germany) (Belgium). Then Lambicland.
Around bruges in 80 beers, aka travel and beer books. Then I bought the old MJ books. I bought some history books
Ambitious brew, then I bought brewmaster table as above. etc. Now I buy Home brew and brewing in general books.

Lambicland sells used on Amazon for upwards of $200.

OP: Randy Mosher's Tasting Beer is great. And I agree that The Brewmaster's Table is a must-read, though by now it might be a little dated.

well don't buy it there, I bought those either overseas or through UK book sells. Ignore amazon when you see crap like that...
You don't really need it anyway unless you going over...IMHO.

yea I got tasting beer when it came out, nice book.

Another fan of "tasting beer" by Mosher. Also check out old "beer hunter" shows on the net. MJ one of my favorites.

If your into sours "wild brews" by Jeff sparrow is a must read. Talks about various styles of sour beer, history of them, details of breweries and their beers, brewer interviews, and about brewing your own.

Pete Brown has written 3 books about beer: 'Hops and Glory,' 'Man Walks into a Pub,' and 'Three Sheets to the Wind.' These books are historical about beer's development (a lot in Britain) as well as humorously anecdotal about his beer travels. He is a British author so the books are not easily found in the US, but you can find them on the Internet. They're all a good read.

Hey wow, I really appreciate the OP posting about my book. I'm excited for it to come out too, haha.

Lately I've also really enjoyed The Audacity of Hops by Tom Acitelli and Ambitious Brew by Maureen Ogle for history.
Brew Like a Monk by Stan Heironymous was a great read as well.

I haven't read all the ones mentioned here, but I recognize a lot as great beer books and ones I've enjoyed too.

    Hooray beer books!

Many great books already mentioned. Some of my favourites not yet mentioned are: Great Beers of Belgium by MJ, Good Beer Guide to Belgium by Tim Webb (especially useful if traveling to Belgium), Beer School by Hindy and Potter, How to Brew by Palmer, and I haven't finished it yet, but am really liking American Sour Beers by Michael Tonsmeire.

It'd be a bit obvious and redundant for a lot of seasoned BA's, but for people just getting into expanding their horizons, David Kenning's (Over) 350 Beers of the World is a nice little guide.
