I know this topic has been covered a gazillion times but after scanning through several other threads I haven't found one specific to BCBS. I'd like to make this one specific to just BCBS so its easier for others to find in the future and mainly because I want some ideas.

I've played around with using my french press and have had decent results but I'd like to hear from some of you "experts". I know there are several of you out there who have this down to a science. I'm looking for tried and true "recipes" of home infused BCBS. Any and all ingredients welcome and please be as specific as possible with regards to amounts, time, etc.

*good karma to the person with the best coconut infused recipe. Hmmm...I may have just come up with an idea for an new LIF . Thanks in advance!

Although I haven't tried to blend them yet I recently ordered bottles of Mostra cold press coffee from San Diego:
    Brazil
    One Bra-zillion Coconuts
    Cinn-Mostra Roll

I read if you mix on a 2:1 or 3:1 coffee to bcbs ratio the results are quite good. First try will be tonight in making a homemade Bourbon County Coffee Prop. I'll post the result. Ordered the Mostra from Craft City but Craft Beer Kings carries it too.

Haha, I was horrified the first time I saw it. I have only had a BCBS one time. Those things are like gold!!

    LOL! That's funny...

I made a poor mans prop with my bro in-law last winter using the dogfish head randall jr. We bought dried coconut from the super market not the stuff with sugar added. Then filled a 9" round baking pan with a thin coat of the coconut. Put it in the oven @ 200 degrees for a few min not sure how long we kept checking until there a a nice golden brown color throughout the coconut. Put that in the randall and filled it up with bcbs popped that baby in the fridge for 20 min and it came out fantastic... We also tried with the un-toasted coconut but you didn't get as much of the flavor that way.

It was horrifying enough to see what he did with BCBS, but then to kill variants like that...well, I guess its a good thing for him there are no beer police.

Any idea how much coconut you used and was it just 12 oz of BCBS?

I know it will vary based on personal taste but from other threads Ive skimmed it seems like the general consensus is somewhere btwn 2-3 tbls of toasted coconut per 12 oz.

I buy shredded coconut and throw a handful in a small pan. Heat it on the stove for a few minutes until the coconut starts to brown. Throw it in my Randall Jr along, with a small cinnamon stick and pour the BCS in. Let it sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes and then enjoy. The hint of cinnamon is a nice addition to the coconut.

Not sure sorry... We just layered the bottom of the 9" round pan. It was a pretty thin layer just to cover the bottom. Yes 12oz or what would fit in the randall after the coconut. I cant remember if it took the whole bottle or not... hope this helps!

It's also good to keep some BCBS in the bottle and cap it so you blend it back in for carbonation and to dial the taste in. I did this with sucks and toasted cocconut.

You need to get a keg of it, just ask you're local bottle shop, they probably have a few. :astonished: Transfer it to a homebrew corny with your adjunct of choice, wait a few weeks, sample weekly until it's where you want it. Now there's more to it than this, but if you're an experienced homebrewer with the right equipment you should be able to figure out the rest, if not start homebrewing, get the point of making really good beer, learn how to fruit/spice your beer in a keg, and then ask me for help.

I've done Cherry, Cherry/vanilla, and vanilla with amazing results, just ask @Dave_Treat and @BubalooBrewMaster.

I just added a few shredded toasted coconuts to some bcbs last night, should have results soon. Should have my coco-bcbs ready to sample very soon...

The night before last I did the same process with dogfish festina peche, putting peaches in it with some sour bugs to see what happens. And tomorrow, beer geek breakfast stout with maple/bourbon/american oak blend that's been marinating in a vacuum sealed mason jar for over a year.

Personally i'd never mess around with bottles, not worth screwing up an already awesome beer. But doing it correctly in a keg...
